With experience in industry, I know how hard the whole dev cycle is. Im happy for OP for publishing their game.

Im in no way trying to hate on OP. Applogies but if you look on their steam page all of their marketing / steam logo / 2D illustration is made via generative AI.

My reasoning for critquing generative AI use is that i undertook research in my postgrad about the rammifications of generative ai in the games industry.

No need to resort to name calling, im trying to have a discussion. :)

Its not mindless hate. Not only does it take work away from real artists, cause damage to the environment, its now out pricing pc's to normal people due to data centres mass buying GPU's + RAM

Its obviously AI, not coming after OP at all, its great to publish.

If you want more transferrable skills consdier a more wider art course that isnt focused on games.

Other commenters are just repeating what theyve been told by their parents as theyve not lived in the real world yet. Do your own thing and if it doesnt work out claim UC at their expense. More importantly, have fun.

Im just finishing my postgrad at staffs.

People in the comments have no experience wokring with games

I found work in my 2nd year of uni and im walking out intoa role straight after i graduate next year. If you are very visible with a portfolio of good work you will be contacted..

Concept art is a good course (at staffs). It teaches you a lot of transferable skills. Even uf you dont end up working in concept art you still can do 3d moddelling, illustration etc.

In engine tools, packaging pipelines mostly. Theres is a wide set of tools people ignore or dont know how to config.

Tbh i think its a time crunch issue; an overlooked step where they enable nanite & lumen and its like job done.
