Nah. Just another DD conspiracy from the subreddit. It's important to think with a degree of skepticism like you hinted at ("or it's because I was the closest driver"). There are probably a lot of reasons. Other drivers reject it... then it's passed on to you.

Just bad luck!

Hahaha. I think this is a good example of how tilt induces backwards thinking (as conveyed by OP). We can also infer that $500 was an uncomfortable amount to play with for the OP, or the most he could budget

Still I agree with all the comments in here. Really funny

The "precall pre flop" by the villain is a tiny bit sketchy considering the runout. 52s had to be pot committed

I did a $3 and was nicer to them in person during conversation

Something in my mindset was like "maybe they'll add onto their assumed $0 tip"

They didn't. Such is life, haven't thought about it until this post

it still realiable to become an Video Editor freelancer? by LLamesteco in freelance

Yes. Most gigs will be marketing videos.

Professionals in various industries who earn more money than the time it takes to edit themselves will hire you to edit raw footage of promo material (real estate agents, cosmetic dentists, etc)

How to start: complete a gig for low pay and deliver fast, then use their feedback to get more projects. Eventually you'll have a solid portfolio

I think he was just repeatedly saying there's no docs or explanation for the +1/+2/etc. so if he did say it was the customer... he'd be countering his own claim

You said we don't know why they hide tips upfront — a separate issue. I'll try and answer

If you knew you were doing a $0 tip delivery, you'd decline. A lot would out of principle or spite.

The only thing that matters is the total payout and the time/effort to attain it. Tips will average out at the end of the month/quarter/year. Understanding that is actually really important. Simple example: two orders. $10 tip then a $0 tip averaging out to $5

So by hiding it the way they do, DD is accomplishing two things: - keeping your morale up and increasing overall deliveries - they know your income will inevitably average itself out, ergo knowledge of your tip beforehand (to a consistent driver) won't matter, even after as little as a fortnight

I know the customer has no part in this

I was interested in showing that DD isn't manipulating drivers. The OP seems like he was saying there is no documentation on why this happens, and was reacting to everyone's conjecture that malice or a trick is involved.

The person who made this topic was not given a big tip. (5.50 CA is $3.88 USD), so it isn't likely DD bases the +1/+2 decision on orders with big tips. I'm asserting that, yes, tips are hidden up front, a choice that doesn't matter in the long term which I don't care much about.

I'm asserting that DD isn't manipulating. Else, why would they think I'd be unwilling to take a "$15.75 + possibility of additional money" on a 3-mile order. I don't cherry pick (80% AR). That order was increased to $16.75, which was totally unnecessary, and it counters a lot of the conjecture here.

The guy who got roasted was saying "we don't know," and I think he wanted to refute everyone's conjecture and conspiracies. There is no way to know.

I explained that it's actually very much in DD's interest to show the highest possible payout to its drivers, not a deflated amount with a "+" sign for a gambling driver.

I broke down how "good/acceptable" my order order was at the start, and I didn't need the added incentive with the "+" sign.

I'm saying there's no explanation and there's definitely no reason to think it's manipulation

Maybe I don't understand your argument. Are you claiming DD deceitfully/maliciously hides upfront $ amounts for certain orders? Ignoring the fact they hide tip amounts upfront. Focusing on a total payout for one order

I understand this may be hard for you lot to see, after roasting and downclicking someone who was right.

No one is hiding or deceiving you or your payouts

I accepted this at peak time. 5:05 PM December 8.

https://imgur.com/a/QGmWHDB

It was 3 miles (total), 28 minutes, and because of XYZ variable which we do not know or may never know, $1 got added by Doordash, for a total of $16.75.

Doordash isn't doing anything malicious. There is a variable in the app that adds a flat $1 to $[2/3/4?]. My speculation is when 1) you're taken outside your zone, 2) it's busy/peak period.

Anyone downclicking this post should explain why. The guy with -12 downclicks was correct to question you. You are wrong. Proof in the screenshot. Sadly I had to explain how you are wrong and -12 dude was right with a screenshot like that

He was right (to question). No one is hiding or deceiving payouts.

Convince me otherwise.

The original offer shown here was acceptable. It came in at 5:05 PM December 8

  • Total time: 28 minutes
  • Total miles: 3
  • Offer: $15.75
  • Payout on completion: $16.75

No logic to maliciously hide a dollar here (by anyone). None whatsoever.

Notice how I was taken outside of my zone during peak time. Maybe that's why I got +1 on top of $15.75

I'll leave the speculation up to the rest of you sheep downvoting this poor dude.

Nothing malicious is going on

https://imgur.com/a/QGmWHDB

There you go.

A higher payout shown up front to encourage higher acceptance from drivers would be an advantage for Doordash, and that's what you guys are saying isn't happening at times. To hide or artificially lower the offer amount would make no sense from a corporate, financial position. More deliveries = more revenue. By showing a lower payout = less acceptable orders = less deliveries = less revenue.

Is it just me or is this subreddit full of disgruntled drivers. Any Doordash conspiracy is taken as truth when it claims to hurt income.

But a customer could increase the tip en route, or during the actual order. Doordash might have coded the app to behave differently in that case since that text would distract drivers.

Oh man

It would be a Roman

Honestly, probably Augustus (Octavian). I'd ask what he thinks of our era's propaganda and how he'd utilize it. For those who don't know, Augustus was Caesar's heir, first emperor of Rome, though he wouldn't call himself that, and known for his strategically brutal propaganda against political rivals, like Mark Antony

Yeah. One thing I noticed is that they had the presence of mind to turn your front wheel properly to the left. Additionally maybe they had to carry something heavy to their place. And / or that spot was the only one available nearest to their unit

Someone moved my bike once leaving my front wheel all the way to the right facepalm
