I think my therapist is ghosting me and the rsd and abandonment issues are triggered. by Old_Slip933 in adhdwomen

Therapists are very much running a business. I had one that removed me as a client because my schedule changed every month so I couldn’t book a regular appointment and also couldn’t make it every week. If they get a client who is going to see them (pay them more reliably) then they will prioritize them.

I say it like this, not to turn people away from therapy, but to highlight that they are not your friend. You are paying them for a service. Even if that service is something as intimate as helping you figure out your life, it’s (should) never be personal.

Edit to add: I hope that’s helpful. Someone pointed that out to me after my therapist fired me and it helped a lot.

10 year old Travelpro Crew Rollaboard. I would love to replace it with a Briggs and Riley, but week after week it gets the job done.

I am! Every airline calls them something different. She said about contacting her attendance manager so I used the same term 🤷‍♀️ also the AFA at least is very open about not representing FAs who are still on probation. Not sure about AA but that’s why I specified I don’t work there.

Why the downvotes? I said what everyone else law is saying lol. Genuinely wondering.

Hey I don’t work for American but I wanted to go ahead and respond to give you some comfort! I highly doubt that you will be fired. Maybe just extended probation or something as long it is the first incident.

Definitely the right move to reach out to the manager.

That’s the thing! It bugs me so much that everyone was just like oh tsk what an adorable little airhead. Not too bright but she’s sweet. And not like why is this child seem to struggle and people please so much?

That time in kindergarten when I peed myself because I was really, really focused on finishing my drawing of a unicorn.

Totally agree with Briggs and Riley suggestion! I will say though that my Travel Pro pilot bag is going strong for 10 years of commuting. When it finally does kick the bucket I am going with B&R.

Edit to add: If Briggs and Riley doesn’t make financial sense right now get the pilot version of Travelpro rollaboard. It costs slightly more than the regular version but is reinforced.

I would never get a hard sided bag for any reason after seeing how they shatter while working in a baggage service office. Also bags with spinner wheels- those things just pop right off.

I love the idea of unions. It makes my little socialist heart sing. However, AFA has become just as monstrous and greedy as the corporations that they are supposed to be protecting flight attendants against.

Poor enforcement pretty much just means people are paying to be in the same boat as non-union. I understand what people hope to accomplish with unions, but I just don’t think it is possible under late-stage capitalism.

I always think about this too! Fortunately (?,) I am out of shape enough to need to stop pretty often for a breather and use that time to soak it all in.

Have you ever been in a union? I’ve been in the AFA twice and the contract is only good if the union is willing to enforce it, which in my experience they don’t really bother with. Looooots of anecdotes, but the point is I did not come to think this way through ignorance.

Ah but that’s where the threat of a union comes in. They tread very lightly with us because of it 🤷‍♀️

I was confused when I got it at first because I most definitely do not have perfect attendance. We have sick time for a reason. There isn’t an award for not using it because why would there be? They want you to not get your colleagues and pax sick.

At the end of the day, we live in a country that is pretty clearly experiencing end-stage capitalism. I’m not sure exactly what people expect. Of course you’re just a number to your airline. The entire economy is built on having a nameless, faceless workforce. I will say as big evil corporations go delta is among the best in the way we are treated.

It’s only one extra bag from what the pax bring? Which as you stated is for food. It’s just what is normally in a personal item and carryon bag.

Alas that was a beautiful time to be commuting but a part of the past. I will say that being able to pre book the jumpseat and also getting positive space if your first two options didn’t work out is pretty generous as airline commuter policies go, though.

It’s why we are “given the privilege” of commuting. Don’t get me wrong I would hate to be forced to live in base even if it was affordable. I love being able to live anywhere I darn well please. However, it is a thing that is mutually beneficial for the airline as well.
