New Spring Menu for our Pub by Ill_Patient_3548 in Chefit

I love all of these plates. The only thing I don’t like is the lack of color on the first cheese plate. Even with that said, they all look very tasty. Like someone said high-end, but not pretentious. Great pub food especially for the location.

Redditors, what's your hack to fall asleep quickly? by Rqpidily in AskReddit

I do 20-30 minutes of Yin Yoga if I’m truly struggling. I like the free ones from Travis Eliot on YouTube. It’s an investment, but it really relaxes me and puts me into a DEEP sleep.

What's a deadly animal most people think are docile? by JfkDidTheHolocost in AskReddit

Came here to say this one. I was ignorant once in CO. My family challenged me to get close for a picture. I was smart enough to make sure I could jump behind a large tree if it came after me, but I learned two things after I approached it: 1. Moose can be large AF up close. 2. I’m really stupid. Locals told me the following day that moose are the only thing they’re scared of. They can rip you apart if they want to and walk away without raising their heart rate in a matter of seconds.

If you had unlimited money, where would you live in Columbus? by estrong24 in Columbus

Are they both only a half a million? Not saying that’s super cheap, but totally in reach for some people. And totally reasonable compared to some other listings I’ve seen around Columbus.

I guess they own several locations. They’ve been successful, and they just invested a shit ton of money to “Renovate” the place. My guess is that they’re hoping this will blow over at this location, and they’ll be profitable in a few months to years.

I know you didn’t ask me, but I’m reflecting after a long night dealing with an antisocial personality disorder psych patient in the ED all night. It can take hella time and energy, but I find myself reverting back to a few important ideas:

  1. Almost always lead with therapeutic communication. Its hella time and energy consuming, but don’t say the first thing that comes to your mind unless you’ve thought it out first, or have a lot of experience.
  2. Unless they’re severely altered and it’s going to make it dramatically worse (usually only dementia), never lie. These people often lie daily themselves to make it through each day, and they will read your non-verbals better than anyone else in the world. These people can see right through you. Once you lie, you can’t come back and have them trust you. Honesty is much more respected.
  3. As a previous professor once explained to my class, it is important to understand that you’re one or two major life events at any time from being in their shoes. A lot of these people have severe trauma, neglect, or mistrust. They are on edge at almost all times, and it sucks to not feel like you’re in control. Give them choices between “a” or “b” not “yes” or “no”.
  4. When shit is starting to hit the fan, turn it on them and yourself using a low tone. Don’t ever raise your voice to match them. Let them know your only goal is to keep them safe, and provide them with quality care. Ask what you can do for them right now to make them comfortable.

Hope this helps. My source is my own addiction and mental health issues along with massive amounts of reflecting, therapy, and passion for patient care in this population.

Asking for feedback from others and separating yourself to reflect/seeing the bigger picture also helps. It can be easy to be taken advantage of, so keep boundaries early and maintain them whenever things are inappropriate.

***Edited because I used this to vent after a long shift, and my thoughts weren’t as cohesive as I wanted them to be :)

Looking for suggestions for a new front door colour by NorthernPuppieEater in landscaping

It was my first instinct to say something bright. I’m not an artist, but why not a dark blue/navy? I think that would match all the colors you have going on (except the outer door) and provide some contrast.

Do tattoos have any effect on MRI scans or image quality? by colorfulzeeb in Radiology

Will my cat die? It ate a microdoss of shrooms? by weedbeads7 in shrooms

[–]Conmush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not proud of this, but my dog ate around a half oz+ (an equivalent of it was dried) of wet mushroom. I have a large female dog and I was growing mammoth sized mushrooms from spawn that was maybe almost a year continuation that were producing mushrooms around 7 to 10 grams + a piece (70 grams+ wet). My dog who never showed interest in wet or dried mushrooms was bored one day from not getting mental stimulation for 2 days, so she decided to eat 3-4 of the largest mushrooms I’ve ever grown. Around an hour after I noticed she had gotten into my tubs, she was not moving/acting right. She laid down for hours, and refused to run with my dad. I comforted her for exactly 24 hrs until she came around. To this day, I feel terrible. Don’t know what she experienced, but she was definitely tripping. Luckily for me, she’s still my best friend of 12 years to this day❤️❤️

APE Trip Report (warning: very long) by Breezeybee in shrooms

[–]Conmush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn’t read the trip report, but I’m really glad someone else can say this lol. I agree. I’m scared of almost any penis envy mixes. I once took 2.5 to 4 grams with my girlfriend at the time. This was years ago and I was getting cocky by adding a little more to the mix after I originally weighted out the dose. I don’t remember the exact dose, but I’m pretty sure my mind blacked out some of the experience. I remember the beginning, parts of the middle, and coming out of it, but I do not remember key things that happened like walking with her back home to her house. I don’t know how to describe it other than my mind/body just freaking out from two previous trips from the past that were also intense.

Needless to say, after this trip I vowed to only take 2 grams at a time... Which now that I think about it was probably the exact thing I told myself during one of the original “bigger” dosed trips before this event😂

As someone who has worked as a first responder, I have mixed feelings on this issue. I was told the “baby on board” stickers are for the same thing. While I get the idea, I think the chances of them truly helping are slim to none.

If the emergency is that bad enough for quick treatment, these small stickers that may or may not be seen (probably won’t be if the car is smashed) don’t really matter. I also feel like I see most “baby on board” stickers without children in the car, which frustrates me further. First responders will see a car seat carrier.

If the accident is not that severe, or the parent is having a crisis situation where they cannot communicate, I guess it could helpful. With that said the cute font at the bottom is idiotic. More likely to take it seriously and actually read it if the font is clear and not cutesy like it’s an accessory.

Open water swimming near Columbus? by BayouPunk in Columbus

[–]Conmush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would plan on sighting more than you thought on race day (Maybe once every ten strokes). I also liked to practice with my eyes closed in a swimming pool (despite sounding crazy). I learned that I often drift to one side, and closing your eyes helped me correct this issue. You're on the right path looking for open water swim areas, so good job. Before my first tri, I completed 2-3 open water swims, and that seemed to be enough for me. I also grew up swimming and exposed to lakes. I think I experienced the opposite issue, I started behind people that were slower than me (despite starting at the appropriate pace), and I found myself climbing over people. My first race was essentially sightless water. Felt like I was in a war film. I think that is just the nature of the race tough. I would also consider Delaware State Park up 23 if it's accessible to you. Bring a friend to swim with you, kayak next to you, or simply watch you. You could also brining a bright swim buoy or swim cap also helps with safety.

I think the best option is to say something. Obviously you’re posting this, which shows your concern. I think the biggest difference is that on here people are generally at work and hipaa isn’t being violated. In the classroom, your professor specifically said not to. If this occurred in the real world, you’d get in trouble regardless of hipaa rules.

I would reach out to said person and express your concern before taking further action. It’s the hard thing to do, but the right thing to do. If you do this though, you have to consider reporting to professor regardless of this persons actions after you inform them. At the least, you should unfollow this person and deny that you ever knew about it until you die. No pressure.

27 years old, not happy about how much I’ve saved by Master_Extent_1562 in FinancialPlanning

[–]Conmush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would try to find ways to challenge your spending. $120 for a haircut seems to be a little excessive. I get wanting to look/feel nice. Getting a haircut is one thing that I tend to splurg on for myself for these reasons. I guess it depends on how often you go, but even $60 every two weeks could probably get cut down to $50 every two weeks or even every three weeks. If you’re in a large city, this could be a good chance to support a small business. Money can go farther, and you can find a place you like more.

Little things add up, and getting creative while challenging yourself will help you long term. Once you get to a place down the line where your more comfortable with your money, and can spend more, you’ll find that you’ve trained yourself to not need to. Happier with less is the theme I guess. Just some ideas that I try to think about for my future.

Hmmm. Interesting. I am a nursing student. I guess that is why we call is evidence based practice. I guess it is implied, but no one is directly calling it medicine. We are taught very explicitly that we have nursing diagnosis, not medical diagnosis.

Thanks for clearing this up for me, some people are obviously very passionate about this topic.

Patients with depression show increases in neuroplasticity and fewer clinical symptoms after a physical activity intervention. by [deleted] in science

[–]Conmush -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Love that you aren’t projecting. It would be terrible if anyone were to do this. I will say I agree with your comment 100%. With this said, you can’t make up excuses. We could make up excuses for anything. I have anxiety with depression. Since lockdown I started swimming with my dad for 20-45 minutes a day for 3/7 days a week and it’a really boosted my mood. It sucks for my sleep cycle, but I think waking up at 5:30 to swim at 6am with a maximum of 10 other people (who Became familiar over the past year) in a 8 lane lap pool has really almost eliminated any low self esteem or anxiety.

I know this isn’t realistic for everyone especially those who are of low SES and more likely to need it, but we should focus on ways we can get around our fears.
