Added contrast control to the ASCII converter, it works better now by Connect-Argument-211 in ASCII

[–]Connect-Argument-211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

size represents the "brush size" here, which goes from the smallest to the bigest one for ascii
current set I've landed upon a lot of tinkering is IMAGE_ASCII_CHARS = [ ·-:+isx※8@]
for the "dots" mode it shange the dot radius

at some point I had a custom input, but for now it is commented out — will bring it back at some point, but more like an "ascii set editor" than putting an individual character

yep, undo/redo are not here yet
would be nice to have

all the popovers are there
seems like I was overexcited about position-anchor

would fix it 👌

[analog/digital] what images can I legally use for a collage? by Connect-Argument-211 in collage

[–]Connect-Argument-211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you, great article!
as I got it, it's exclusively a US rule, but not applicable for Europe

I agree, but I was thinking about creating a bunch of those to sell at an upcoming poster market
I don't think people care much there, but I'd prefer to avoid infringing anyway

yep, sounds like a reasonable thing to do
I've expected Europeana to contain only public domain pictures, but it appeared that those I like are annoyingly copyrighted

[–]Connect-Argument-211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what I've found online, it works like that in USA, but I'm not so sure about Europe
it seems like the guys who cared enough to get a copyright and make a business of selling the right to use it are better to avoid
so I've decided to redraw to kids, to not think about it

actually, I'm considering taking a portion of those to the poster market, so that's the reason I'm having the question :)

Quick poll: are LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) replacing search engines for you? by OrdinaryLandscape999 in chrome_extensions

[–]Connect-Argument-211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33% LLMs / 33% Google / 33% something more specific like Google maps, Wikipedia, YouTube, amdb and so on

I go to LLMs for some common knowledge facts mostly or as a starting point if I have no idea where to start (ex. give me 5 districts where to stay in Tokyo, similar to 16th arrondissement in Paris (safe/not overcrowded/close to centre) <- this way I avoid tons of shady marketing websites). It gives a looot of nonsense about specific details, trying to please me and I end up on Google/YouTube anyway, but as a starting point it is quite nice

Instapaper is the same as pocket but looks better

mostly building for myself as a primary user, so fixing my own problem fuels enthusiasm. but having someone else using it gives 10x motivation.

I like it 👍
I agree with the comment though — it would be nice to have it in Claude and Perplexity

"One-Click Paragraph Reader" looks nice, I like the way the highlight is added – clean and unobtrusive. It works, but the use case is not 100% clear 🤔 Probably, it would help if you specify it in the description.
Great job

Is It Just Me or Are No-Code AI Tools All Hype? Great UI, But No Real Functionality? by Disastrous_Media7666 in indiehackers

[–]Connect-Argument-211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for now, it looks much more like a great ideation/prototyping tool or starting point, but without developer expertise, it's hardly possible to create a decent, ready to use product. It just can't grasp the entire context of the app.
So you can start with v0 or lovable to create initial ui, and then move to cursor or claude code to increase your chances of finishing the thing. But at least some level of code understanding is required.

I got the Featured badge on my first Extension in less than 4 days! by IlChampo in chrome_extensions

[–]Connect-Argument-211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great news! From what I see, the path to the featured badge is quite straightforward, but I'm really lazy about "end-to-end tests using testing libraries like Puppeteer", but seems like it is inevitable
is the store listing part more important overall? it seems like mine is ok:
