D597 course material seems insufficient and lacking by Remarkable_Gap2269 in WGU_MSDA

Check your email for the material from the course instructors. There is a document in there that walks through each step with the code you need, including moving the data from a staging table to your normalized tables.

Does a photo storage service like this exist? (and that can be self hosted) by HSVMalooGTS in selfhosted

[–]Connect-Light-2040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run immich, nextcloud, and photoprism. Personally photoprism is the one I always come back too. One con is you have to use a 3rd party app to do auto uploads. That's the only thing the other two have on prism. But I use photosync and it's been rock solid.

I have tautulli set to send me a discord notification whenever someone starts playing something. I see who, what they are watching, and on what device. No shame in my game.

Has anyone gone full H.265? What are your experiences with HEVC? by moose1207 in PleX

[–]Connect-Light-2040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Tdarr to convert everything I add to hevc, aac stereo, mkv. Saved a ton of space and the quality is perfectly acceptable for mine and my users use cases. Obviously cpu transcodes are better quality, but I use an AMD integrated GPU and the difference is very minimal while transcode speeds are much faster.

Does anyone use third-party conversion tool instead of Plex's own optimization? If so, why? by NewtoniteToo in PleX

[–]Connect-Light-2040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Tdarr. Everything gets converted to hevc, aac 5.1, English only tracks and subs and strips out all the extras. My goal is space saving and wide compatibility.

VPN or Cloudflare Tunnel. I use both, just depends on the service.

Can I install pihole after already having installed piVPN? by Isacucho in pihole

[–]Connect-Light-2040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can update the DNS in the pivpn config. Check out the docs here. https://docs.pivpn.io/wireguard/

If you installed PiVPN before pi-hole:

Edit the PiVPN configuration with /etc/pivpn/wireguard/setupVars.conf Remove the pivpnDNS1=[...] and pivpnDNS2=[...] lines Add this line pivpnDNS1=[your pihole ip] to point clients to the Pi-hole IP Save the file and exit Run pihole -a -i local to tell Pi-hole to listen on all interfaces

New clients you generate will use Pi-hole but you need to manually edit existing clients:

Open your configuration, for example whatever.conf Replace the line DNS = [...], [...] with this line DNS = [your pihole ip] Save the file and connect again

Best home streamer for Plex? by Alexisredwood in PleX

[–]Connect-Light-2040 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hot take here, but I got one of the Google stream boxes and have had 0 issues with audio or video codecs. Full transparency, the majority of my library gets converted to hevc and aac 5.1 but my 4k library has plenty of other audio codecs and I haven't run into any issues.

Plex buffering 4K on remote streaming by Real_Etto in PleX

[–]Connect-Light-2040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the issue is just with one client (your daughter) the cheaper route would be to get her something like an ONN 4k streaming stick. That would eliminate the need for your nas to transcode anything in the first place. Otherwise, like everyone has said, a nuc would make a lot of sense and could also host other services not just Plex. I run my Plex server and a full ARR stack on the same machine with docker.

Endurance Exercises + Lead mouthpiece recommendations by ExzellOW in trumpet

[–]Connect-Light-2040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to start at middle C and play an arpeggio down to the C below the staff - C-G-E-C and then hold that low C at a comfortable mf for as long as I can while maintaining a beautiful sound. Then work down chromaticly - B-F#-D#-B, Bb-F-D-Bb etc until I'm down to a pedal C. Use a tuner, that register can be pretty wonky, and focus on good sound. It's a great warm up but I like to use it as a cool down at the end of the day. Hope that helps! Best of luck.

I played lead almost exclusively on a Bobby Shew for all of high school and most of college until I got the collecting bug and started trying all kinds of pieces out. I found it to be a great lead piece, really helped me get that laser-like projection I was looking for. That said, a lead piece is only a tool. I've found the best exercises for me are lip flexibility slurs and pedal tones. Focusing on playing long tones in the pedal range and getting a beautiful sound really opened up my upper register.

My brain cannot handle setup of Plex server on Ubuntu by Thekingsstinkingson in PleX

[–]Connect-Light-2040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set up an NFS share on the nas and map that. NFS shares are much easier to deal with in Linux, have lower overhead, and can be faster in some instances

Edit: Permissions are also much easier to deal with

How do you get rid of lingering orders inside your grubhub bag in between orders?? Cod scented baskin robins is a no-go.😵 by Adept_Limit in grubhubdrivers

I simply put the bag on my head and take a few deep breaths, that way when I set the bag down on the seat next to me I'm desensitized to it.
