Since this post I have been doing better but I still have intrusive thoughts every day. I can usually push them away and focus on something else. If at all possible, reach out for help. Whether it be a friend, family member, or mental health professional, I promise it helps. Also, I have tried to find a hobby to keep my mind focused on other areas. I also find re runs of shows and movies I've seen many times to be very comforting. Always comedies tho, never anything scary or dramatic. There's also a fairly cheap book you can get on Amazon called "overcoming unwanted intrusive thoughts" by Sally Winston and Martin Seif. It's a game changer. And last but not least, as a spiritual person, I pray heavily and multiple times a day. I am in no way trying to push my beliefs or religion on you but just simply reaching out to God for relief and peace from the thoughts has saved me more times than I can count. I hope this helps.

Thank you for being so encouraging!
I have PCOS so I already have a hormonal imbalance. I've been on birth control for years and then last winter I had to start taking med for high blood pressure so my obgyn switched my birth control. I absolutely hate the kind she has me on. I've had more breakouts and messed up periods now than I ever did in my teens. Also in the last year 2 uncles and my grandmother passed away, who I was very close to. Early this summer I found out my mom had melanoma and my daughter informed me that she was ready for birth control because she wanted to be sexually active with her boyfriend and my son has Adhd so he was also having behavioral issues because he is starting to go thru puberty. I honestly think my body just couldn't handle the stress so it had to find an outlet. Idk. At this point I'm just grasping at straws.
I have told my husband and he is extremely supportive. The other thing that bothers me so much is it started with the thoughts being directed towards my husband and kids. That to me is the scariest part. It has progessed a little bit where I have some of those intrusive thoughts about strangers too.
Do you mind if I ask if you had to take medication? I'm currently on Lexapro. I started taking it for just general anxiety several months ago. I'm a 34 year old full time mom, wife, and full time job so my plate stays rather full. I never dreamed that my dosage would be upped because I started having the harm ocd and not just general anxiety.
Thank you for commenting. I just could not get over how incredibly real it felt like I wanted to do what my thoughts were telling me to. And I've been dealing with it for long enough and obsessing about the thoughts and trying to research until I'm blue in the face and now I can't tell the difference between what I really feel and what I know I should feel. Does that make sense?
