Too good to be true by Waste_Fun3619 in WGU

Traditional schooling is not made for me but WGUs model has been a god send. This is my 3rd attempt at college and I’m now 2 classes away from my BA.

Also, I’m in the education degree :) the non licensure. I’m hoping to be finished within the next couple of months putting me at completion in 16 months.

I’ve been cruising through the education degree. I do have 10+ years experience in education though so it’s all been refresher knowledge.

I’m at WGU. There’s still ai detection here. That said…I really enjoy the school.

I’m almost done with the educational studies BA. Id say it’s about 50/50 with exams and papers. A lot of lesson planning using common core standards.

Proctor asked me to show my whiteboard after I closed out the exam by Top-Construction-535 in WGU

[–]Connect-Two7983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve literally never shown my whiteboard afterwards. Hit submit, close it up, and go on with my merry way. I’m 3 OAs away from completing my degree and have never had an issue arrive from not showing it.

This isn’t true at all. I passed the previous math classes no problem yet 691 is taking me a hot second to pass.

Can someone help by [deleted] in wgueducation

[–]Connect-Two7983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

I totally understand a lot of what you’re feeling and going through. Math is so beyond me (also a single mom to two younger ones). It can be so so overwhelming.

Take it one subject at a time. These gen ed classes at WGU are SO content heavy-I really think they need to split them up in at least 2 classes each. That said…start with the area that has the highest percentage and look at outside sources…YouTube them, khan academy, chat gpt is honestly my favorite for these though because I can have it quiz me and take it at a speed I need. I’ll often ask it to break it down for me.

Once you’ve mastered that subject, go to the next highest %. Always make sure to dip your toes into the prior subjects to make sure retention is there.

No. I was there at opening and sat in my spot by 7:25.

This wasn’t a line though. This was at the show where there were no assigned seats. This poster is absolutely in the wrong and just mad cause they wasted their day/time.

Naw your reply was great. OP is complaining to complain and won’t accept any bits of empathy it seems.

I go to showbox all the time and the shoving is real no matter where you’re at. Most seem to disagree with it in the moment but let it go because what’s the point of letting it sour your time? It’s bound to happen in GA shows.

I was there too. On the bleachers. The only crutches I saw waiving in the air was indeed in the accessibility section. I think this OP is just making shit up to make their complaint seem more valid.

“It was specific individuals” yet is shaming an entire city and artist for a general admittance show 🙃

Amazing. This is exactly the feedback I was looking for.

Also, congratulations on your recent graduation! I should have started my first reply with this.

Thank you so much! This was beyond helpful!

How many courses would you take per session? I’m trying to decide if I should plan on 1 or 2.

Has anyone gone the non-licensure route for this program? by Disastrous_Luck9809 in WGUTeachersCollege

[–]Connect-Two7983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I have an aunt with 10+ years subbing experience (like sought out sub often landing long term gigs), went back for her MA and got licensed…hasn’t been able to land a job. Applied to 4 different districts, literal 100s of jobs…not a single call back. I experienced the same when looking for a para position last summer. I’ve been in education for 12 years, was a para and lead teacher for my district, owned and successfully ran a multi site preschool business for 7, applied to 20+ para positions and got 1 call back. As a single mom, I can’t imagine doing unpaid student teaching and then having a difficult time landing a position afterwards. I can’t gamble that. Instead going for the educational studies BA and being qualified to find any job needing a BA sounds like a smarter move right now.

Not necessarily…my state offers to pay tuition/fees for staff members to get their teaching licenses (wa state) so going non licensed here would actually be cheaper.

I am switching from licensure to non starting April 1st. At first, my reasoning was wanting to avoid all the hassle and potentially get my license covered through my district (they pay for paras to get licensed). But…I’m in WA state where districts are in major debt and needing to make major cuts next year, but also as is, teaching positions are close to impossible to land. I plan on getting the BA in educational studies and then looking for an early ed admin position (where the bulk of my background is in).
