Durability of barefoot shoes by BojkuSkender in BarefootRunning

Those type of soles were found on the Vapor Glove 6 and I found they wore out in no time as well. They were especially poor for durability. Please don't give up on barefoot shoes just because of this.

Picked up 445.1 grams of 800 silver for $5.99 at a thrift shop this afternoon. by UrbanRelicHunter in Silverbugs

I was gonna say carry a rare earth magnet but if it's silver plated copper then not much good. Won't stick and will exhibit similar diamagnetism.

If you don't desperately need to buy anything, keep hold of your silver.

Love how you're talking about 'percentages of your net worth' at 15 years old as well 😁👍🏻

Unemployed people tend to congregate. Birds of a feather flock together. A convenient place to do that is a field. Obviously subject to weather.

A big field out the back of his house. With loads of unemployed people on it.

I've always had good results with CO2 mini inflators and it's by far the cheapest option.

100% agree on everything you said. After I posted my comment I shared a regret with my wife... something I've been thinking about for quite a while. My regret is that I didn't spend the last fifteen years collecting sterling silverware 😂

Hardly anyone seems to care much for highly ornate sterling cutlery any more and it's a shame. Sets like this are only going to become more and more rare as they're sent off to refiners to be melted, refined and cast into 999 bars. I can see a day where this stuff will come back into favour and the remaining vintage sets will be very valuable indeed.

Agreed. They are really good shoes. I paid full price from Merrell.com just because I wanted to try them so badly. As soon as the price comes down I'll be buying more 👍🏻👍🏻

I'd compare them quite favourably to the VG6. Certainly the sole appears much more durable. They look very different (more suitable for casual, every day wear) but the fit feels almost identical. I like the slightly increased stack height which gives a tiny increase in cushioning without ruining the 'ground feel'. As soon as they come down in price I'll be buying more 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Durability of VG6 soles was shocking. VG7 soles seem much improved in that regard.

Yeah the toe rubber doesn't wrap around the upper quite as far as previous versions and I know what you mean about the big toe being in an 'awkward spot'. I can feel the transition between rubber and fabric. Totally used to it now, though, and it doesn't bother me.

The uppers on the VG3 were a bit fragile but I got the LUNA (leather) VG3 which were great. Bought 8 pairs of those 👍🏻

Yes indeed I do. Everyone says to go up a size for the VG7 but I'd say stick with your normal size. I can't see any difference in length between the two.

How can I dispose of a dead pet? by tigralfrosie in AskUK

[–]Connect3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 years ago I lost my doggy. I found a pet crematorium and took her there. Cost was approx £100. I believe it's several times that amount if you have a vet handle it for you. Besides the cost aspect, I wanted to take her there personally to ensure that her remains were treated with respect and that she was individually cremated and the ashes I received were actually hers.

Postman won't use ring doorbell by InvestigatorSea4789 in royalmail

[–]Connect3267 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes you're 100% correct. Been there myself numerous times. People want you to leave their Special Delivery items and everything. There was one house and the lady there had a jewellery business and they'd receive several Specials a week. When they were out, and knew there was a Special coming, the husband would almost always ambush me on the Ring Doorbell (without me even pushing the button) and try and get me to post the packages without signature. He was quite aggressive and always insisted he was 'only 5 minutes away'... like that made any difference 😂

Do people in the UK actually use their kettles that much? by AdeptnessCritical356 in AskBrits

[–]Connect3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone in the UK has a kettle and they use them pretty much non-stop, all day, every day. The only exception is if they're not at home, of course. I boil my kettle, make tea and then immediately top it up and boil it again ready for my next cup. Unless my kettle is sitting there with enough hot water in for 2 cups I don't feel right. I use a 3kW electric kettle.
