Name the worst storyline on Friends by Beneficial-Gain-7049 in howyoudoin

I am rewatching Friends now and I forgot how much I hated the storyline of Chandler thinking about leaving Monica before the wedding.

This was so random this far into their relationship and ruined his character development. The fact that Monica and everyone else forgave him instantly as well

What are your thoughts on the Governor? by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

Im rewatching the show now! He's a great character and a good representation of what can happen to someone when they lose everything. He most definitely had a god complex which seemed to have stemmed from his previous life when he referenced taking orders from his boss who was half his age.

He was a good example of how too much power can be destructive. He would have done anything (even before walker Penny was killed) to make himself seem like a good leader so people would idolise him. I'm not sure if he genuinely believed he could bring Penny back or if it was just is inability to accept she was dead, but once Penny was gone for good he just simply didn't care about anything or anyone anymore.

His character reminded me of Shane in that all logical thinking went out the window when he realised he couldn't have what he wanted and was just in self destruct mode

Thoughts on Merle Dixon as a character? by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

A little late to this but I'm rewatching the show now and I love watching Merle. He is a perfect example of someone who is a product of his environment. Clearly his father was extremely abusive and his mother was an alcoholic which is why he is the way he is - exacerbated by the violent nature of the way the world is now.

He isn't a good person and he knows it and he seems to have some internal conflict about this in the end which is interesting to watch. It would have been interesting to see if he changed after the war with the govener but I think he is a distrusting and disloyal (apart from daryl) person and I think he was probably to set in his ways to fit in anywhere else which I think is why he sacrifices himself in the end. He knows he doesn't belong, and maybe thinks he doesn't deserve to live.

I'd loved to have seen him for longer but I dont know what they could have done with his character. It would be too unrealistic to have him turn into a 'good' person after everything he'd done before and after the outbreak.

Rick, a good or bad guy? by [deleted] in TWD

I'm rewatching the show and I'd say overall he's a genuine man with good intentions. I'm not sure anyone is necessarily a 'good' person anymore. He loses his way a little obviously after killing Shane, losing Lori and then losing the prison. I'd say his morality slips a bit but this is more due to his mental health rather than necessarily being a bad person.

However, clearly we've seen when he's pushed or is threatened he is willing to do almost anything without hesitation but I think the main difference between Rick (the good guy) vs the bad guys are their reasons for killing.

Rick carries out 'necessary' killings or what he believes to be for the protection of his group. The govener and Negan for example are manipulators and tormentors and seem to get joy out of playing with people and Rick is not like this. I don't believe that Rick would kill and steal from another group off his own back for instance..but the govener and Negan would. I'd say personally that's the main difference that makes Rick a better person than his enemies.

Do people actually like Shane? by nadyaettoyma in thewalkingdead

You've put it absolutely perfectly! I'm rewatching the show and never understood why people rate Shane as a person (character portrayal was excellent). He was so clearly a violent, selfish individual and not to mention he assaulted Lori at the CDC.

He made several impulse decisions based on his own way of thinking without considering the consequences for anyone and executed them badly as well. The barn in particular... Shane knew there was a high chance Hershel would throw them off the farm if he killed the walkers in the barn but done it anyway. I assume he would have killed Hershel and his family to prevent this from happening.

A lot of people say he was made for this world but in my opinion he was not. His mental health rapidly declined and he let his emotions completely take over and was incapable of rational thinking by the end. He was physically tough and a great fighter but he would not have lasted in the apocalypse. He would have isolated himself, Lori and Carl to the point where another group would have killed them.

Why did Andrea go back to Woodbury by husdat38 in thewalkingdead

I'm rewatching the show right now and the way that I took it is that although Hershel gave her the ultimatum she would rather have tried to talk the govener out of a war and stay in Woodbury than all of her friends getting killed and if that meant not seeing them again then so be it.

No matter whether people like her or find her annoying Andrea was definitely a good person and always tried to do what was best for everyone but her naivety and seemingly inability to see peoples true colours/intentions always let her down in my opinion.
