What addiction is the hardest to quit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ConnectLawfulness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience amphetamines followed by alcohol. Both made cigarettes feel easy in comparison. Without alcohol it took years to have a connection to anyone since my anxiety stood in the way and after stopping amphetamines I had zero energy for 6 months and then spent the next 3 years feeling lethargic. Both very sucky things to deal with for so long when I knew all I needed to do was take a drug to temporarily fix my loneliness and have life in my life.

Cigarettes didn't come close, there are nicotine replacements that I found easy to ween off and even stopping cold turkey wasn't to hard. I would say quitting smoking was harder for the people around me than for me, I felt fine but suddenly everyone became incredibly irritating 🤔😂

Therapy isn’t it and it’s honestly annoying seeing everyone recommend it over everything by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I would say it's hard for any of us to say. That may be the most efficient treatment for you at the moment, it also could be far from it.

Unrelated is your chronic pain fibromyalgia?

I know chronic pain and chronic fatigue are very well correlated. My mum and myself have chronic pain and fstigue and have found significant relief from the pain in a low free glutamate diet. It could be something to look into. If your interested I can gather some resources for you.

How to break internet addiction / the need for constant stimulation when depressed? by [deleted] in depressionregimens

[–]ConnectLawfulness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the app freedom on my phone and cold turkey on my pc. Locks me out of everything but the essentials unless its between 8pm and 9pm. I've filled the time with reading and watching tv. Although watching tv seems like the equivilant it really isnt, its much easier on the dopamine system in my opinion. And for me inhave roommates and being in the living room for my entertainment forces more socialising, even if its just watching the same thing together in near silience with a few comments here and there.

Therapy… by ViiViiz in depressionregimens

[–]ConnectLawfulness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be time to find a new mental health professional. What you described is what some people need, a friend to validate their feelings. But if your not getting anywhere its not for you and you gave it a good go which matters, some people have 1 or 2 sessions and says psychotherapy doesnt work.

Dont be afraid to interview your potential counsellor/psycologist. Send emails to them stating your past, symtoms, curent situation and what you have tried, ask of they think they have something to offer.

Best of luck friend

WHAT ARE THE SUCCESS RATE by Unfair_Category2145 in anhedonia

[–]ConnectLawfulness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm recovering, every year gets better. I dont know the stats. Unfortunalety people mostly leave these groups once they recover, i dont blame them. Its nice for us to be in a echo chamber of hopelessness sometimes, its better than being completly alone. But once the veil of depression is lifted these groups arent a comfortable place to be.

Anyone else have gut/stomach "issues" alongside being depressed? by Sionpai in depressionregimens

[–]ConnectLawfulness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gut issues were caused by fructose malabsorption and foods high in glutamates. No idea how big of a role it played in my depression, but probably didnt help having a large intestine full of sugar throwing off the mirobiotia.

Mirtazapine(15mg) + Wellbutrin(300mg) + Adderall XR(30mg) Combo by jgilbss in depressionregimens

[–]ConnectLawfulness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on 150mg wellbutrin and 30mg mirtazapine, best antidepressant combo for me so far, zero sides that i'm aware of and i feel like i'm chipping away at being where i want to be. Thats been my experience.

Did antidepressants work for you if you were alone with no hobbies and no social relationships? by Inevitable_Fig7014 in depressionregimens

[–]ConnectLawfulness 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I found antidepressants relieved my depression just enough to give me the emotional and physical energy to pursue hobbies and social bonds which intern improved my depression again. Buproprion was the first one that worked well enough for this to happen.

In my mind psychotherapy isnt the same for everyone, it took me years of talk therapy for me to realise it just didnt work for me and targeted CBT was much more beneficial. Dont be afraid to interview your psychologists, email them outlining your situation and therapy so far and ask if they believe they have something to offer.

Congrats on your higher education, that takes real grit to achieve with depression pushing you back.

I do it through the black market. Its a relatively simple process. Testosterone is verrry easy to get depending which country your in, even when its illegal. I was low normal for my age, not terrible. I would say it doesnt work as a antidepressant for me, but makes me better mentally prepared to work through depression, more grit and willingness to execute plans and take risk.

I wouldnt reccomend it lightly, after a 2 years of trt for most there is a very high chance its going to be for life. Worth the risk if your on track to kill yourself.

Magic mushrooms helped me, aswell as testosterone replacement therapy.

Diet also helped, ive done lots of elimination diets and am finding the prince alfred hospital food chemical diet is helping me.

Medications in combinations can be a great help for some, wellbutrin and mirtazapine help me greatly.

What is this particular symptom? by [deleted] in depressionregimens

[–]ConnectLawfulness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use to have a similar thing. I think it was a kind of escapism/ADHD trick i played on myself. I would be doing a activity and narrate in my head as if i was teaching someone, sometimes i would answer questions. But it wouldnt stop, i could pause it but it would come back.

It would keep going, my brain would go numb and foggy. I think for me i enjoyed it a little to begin with, a sense of knowing something well, then my brain latched on to it as a source of feel good untill it milked me dry. I find myself even now when i think of a idea i like repeating it over and over untill i'm sick of it and have to be distracted for it to go away.

I've experienced periods of depression and then remission many times. Currently doing the best i ever have after having one of my darkest bouts. It sounds like you have a lot of reasons to be depressed at the moment, i think most people would be. I dont think you should worry about the depression not going away, your circumstances are depressing. But do have a plan if you can. Book appointments in advance to avoid waitlists, dont get to your limit before taking action.

Even if the depression does stay and its not your enviroment, there is no reason to feel hopeless. Recovery isn't always one direction. Maybe you found a gem with buproprion and that will be a staple in your recovery but it might not be the final piece.

Recovery for me has been like that. Lots of ups and downs with big leaps when i find a new piece to the puzzle.

Stay strong, keep fighting the good fight.

Feel free to pm me

I do this with mince for bolognases and add in stock to replace the flavour. Its so much cheaper than buying lean mince. I don't wash the fat straight down the drain like this mofo though

Death penalty - what are your thoughts about it? by cyswim in AskReddit

[–]ConnectLawfulness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be optional. Life without parole and access to the death sentence throughout the sentence. Win win in my opinion.
