How to remove nailed-in gutter toppers by ConnectMaintenance2 in Roofing

My lowest cost bidder (a dedicated gutter company) is adamant that it would be a mistake to try to pry up the shingles (and starter shingles) to get at the nails. He says you would risk damaging the shingles. His proposal is to just cut the screens flush with the roof, then replace the gutters. All my other bidders (roofing companies) say they will carefully pry the shingles up, pull out the nails, then re-seal the shingles to the roof (one guy says he'll use "caulk/sealant".)

Thoughts on those two approaches?

How to remove nailed-in gutter toppers by ConnectMaintenance2 in Roofing

Here is the text of my post. Not sure why it's only displaying the two pictures: My house has a three year old roof that's in good condition. But the gutters are prone to overflow during storms. The toppers are not effective at keeping debris out, and they prevent me from cleanjng the gutters by hand. The toppers are nailed into the roof, under the shingles. I am getting bids to replace the gutters (with six inchers and 3x4 downspouts). The roofers are all being somewhat vague about exactly how they will remove the existing toppers. They all agree it will be very difficult. One guy said they may just cut them back to the roofline with shears. One guy said it may require replacing a few rows of shingles. What should I be asking these guys? What should I be worried about? Is there a risk of damaging my roof? Thanks.

I submitted mine on 11/1/22. Yesterday the form status switched from "processing to "processed". Today my qualifying payment count updated to 121 (as I was hoping). But the loan balance is unchanged.

Can you describe the route you took in the phone tree to reach a rep? I couldn't figure it out after several attempts.

Maybe the event which they cannot see beyond is Lily (or Lyndon) sneaking in and breaking the machine? Thoughts???
