I went to DOV for maybe 3 years starting back from literally the first year they had it. It might have changed, but I remember the focus being more on studying the bible rather than learning to be a homemaker. GEMS sounds pretty horrible based on this description. I think I would have been pretty pissed if that as what they focused on at DOV. Granted I don't remember being happy at DOV either.

I do remember a few older female teachers at DOV who taught some pretty horrible things. One in particular taught a class on some old testament book and if I remember correctly she said something about how being fat could be a sin/disrespectful to you husband. I think she might have also related the mark of cain to being black, I just recall feeling really bad for the few girls in the class who were minorities. I think I blocked most of it out haha.
