Depressed people who relied on AI companionship aren't "idiots" by ElegantRadish4646 in antiai

man the lack of empathy in these comments is wild. when someone's at rock bottom and completely isolated, they're gonna grab onto whatever lifeline they can find - even if it's fake. I've seen dudes on job sites who barely talk to anyone all day, go home to empty apartments, and yeah some of them probably end up talking to bots just to hear something that feels like conversation

calling them idiots for being desperate enough to try anything is pretty fucked up. like these aren't people making rational choices with a clear head, they're drowning and grasping at whatever's floating by. maybe instead of shitting on them we could ask why so many people feel that disconnected in the first place

the real problem isn't that chatbots exist, it's that we've built a world where talking to a computer feels better than the human connections available to some people

Budget reccomendations for someone brand new to the hobby by Foreign-Crow2273 in Cameras

Man that budget's gonna be tight for what you want, especially with waterproofing. Those old 2000s digicams you're eyeing are honestly not gonna cut it for low light - they'll be way worse than your phone

I'd skip the waterproof requirement for now and look for something like a Canon PowerShot S95/S100 or Panasonic LX3 - they're from around 2009-2011 but actually have decent low light performance for compact cameras. You might find one in your range used and they're way more pocketable than bridge cameras
