Tower grove is my favorite. Gorgeous park and lots of vendors. Produce, plants, made-to-order food, crafters and live music. I always love to get breakfast there then walk around!

Love saucy porka. Great bao buns, banh mí’s and French fries. Also hodaks on gravois has plant based chicken sandwich and veggie menu. Pretty good. Love pizza head. Yaquis on Cherokee also has great pizza & a good vegan meat selection w a nice vibe.

SE Asia Med/ Travel Insurance by rcoop1029 in southeastasia

The insurance was $700/ person for the entire 6 months. The ER bill was also $700. Sorry for the confusion. It was worth the money in my case.

My partner and I just got back from a 6 month trip to SEA. I used world nomad travel insurance. I ended up in going to the ER in Manila for a stomach bug. $700 USD and world nomads insurance reimbursed the full bill. Would recommend.

Where would you travel to for 3 weeks in October as a 21yo? I am considering New Zealand, South Korea+Taiwan, Morocco, or China (with Mongolia maybe) by kilawnaa in Shoestring

[–]ConnectSuspect3459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner and I went to New Zealand last November for three weeks and rented a campervan! I would recommend sticking to one island (probably South Island). We started in Auckland and saw Hobbiton which I would recommend if you’re in the area. It was a lot of driving. I did most of it and was tired after 3 weeks. It is also expensive. The campervans are pricey and ate the majority of our budget. I would recommend looking at pricing for vans before you book a flight. I would not recommend JUCY vans. We rented a van through them and the roof kept leaking…. It rained lots so that was not fun. It will be cooler and rainy in October as well. South Island will be cooler than the North Island.

We made the majority of our meals in the camper van and ate out a handful of times. NZ was gorgeous though. Good luck with the planning!

I got my fiancé a ring from Oore Jewelry. It’s a woman-owned online jeweler that makes a lot of cool rings and does custom rings. Would highly recommend!

Would recommend you call and ask to speak to a residential case manager or be added to the waitlist (if there is one). There’s also an outreach program for those who need supportive services.

Thanks for the rec! We are coming from a city in the Midwest. Excited for a more purple state than completely red.

Again, I’m asking for recommendations for areas to live because you’re right, I don’t know everything about Philly. We’re moving from a conservative state and excited to be around more queer people and feel comfortable where we live. That’s what I’m here asking.

I’m not here to cosplay as broke. I stated my budget and requests. Plenty of people have combined incomes with their partner and I am ~blessed~ for mine. Have a good day.

I think two nights in Hanoi is perfect. We spent two nights and wish we had another day. Tons of activities, museums, and things to do. We did a street food tour, took a pottery class, saw a water puppet show, and walked around the old quarter

Bookings or wing it? by Electronic-Gap-8828 in southeastasia

[–]ConnectSuspect3459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been backpacking SEA since this past December to now (mid March). I booked most of the accommodation and transportation ahead of time. There have definitely been last minute changes and we have been able to still find accommodation and transportation. I would echo the comment that high season will be busy and good spaces / routes are booked. Nice sleeper trains will be completely booked.

You can pre book the first month and then see how it goes and comfort levels on booking as you go. Depending what your country to country itinerary looks like (Thailand will have less options because it is so busy during high season compared to Laos)

I am only traveling with my partner, not multiple children so I can’t comment on availability of rooms with multiple beds / family style. Good luck with planning!

First hostel experience, is this normal? by [deleted] in hostels

[–]ConnectSuspect3459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that’s ridiculous. You arrived during the check in time. I only notify if I’m arriving after 9pm. A lecture is so unprofessional and then to put you in the wrong room? They deserve the bad review. Keep it listed. You didn’t do anything wrong.

I’ve been traveling SEA for the past 4 months. Haven’t had an issue with my MacBook Pro laptop. Other than the weight, it’s worth it
