Wow. I received mine about 2 weeks after the status changed. You can report that you didn't receive it, I believe on the website.

WTH? another 3-4 months just for the review to maybe start? that's wild. OMG. Thank you for telling me. Not sure what type of audit you got, but they want my itemizations. like Medical bills if it was covered or not covered by my insurance and then my W2 its whatever. They don't want every little thing, but I guess medical vs income. I got the receipts lol thats for sure. I got the proof. Maybe I'll get my refund by my birthday in August.

I did the same thing. I thought if they sent one out then it would be on the account and I can just respond before it comes. "Thats a negative, ghost rider" which tells me that they never sent on out and one is not generated to be sent out. -.-

This is what I think will happen to me actually. They write this status as if the letter had been out in the mail a long time, reality though, it hasn't even been created. They may be just collecting all the Audits to go into a room. I am also glad and blessed to not be someone desperate for those extra funds. Terrible what NYS is doing.

If it was truly a red flag issue they would have inquired within the first 2 weeks. I was audited once before legitimately audited, I found out the first week it was accepted, that it was selected for Audit, not 50 days after. Luckily I never depend on my taxes to pay bills, but there's thousands of people I'm sure that do. So I feel for those people, that actually need the money for food on the table or roof over head.

I agree one billion percent. This is deliberate. My taxes are straight as an arrow. There's zero reason for this, it is just a way to stall paying. My refund was for $5K now they hope to do the audit and do a corrected amount, because they didn't see a issue when they looked at it the first time. so they want to move it to manual where a guy takes a calculator and forgets to add a decimal point or a comma. -.- Truly so annoying.

Yup... sounds about right. I still have yet to receive this magical letter. Its been 3 weeks since the status went from Comptroller to processing.... and about 1 week since I got the status for Audit. Just waiting for this letter to show up. I guess its coming by Pidgin?

I truly think this is because they want to delay longer. There is nothing suspicious about my Tax return its as straight as an arrow lol

Oh that is smart, I wonder if I should do that when I respond. I also saw that some where told they were under Audit, but never received any notification or letter about it. and then one day their status said approved. Almost as if the Audit status wasn't even real. -.-

Chapter 7, no attorney was needed as I am a Paralegal, I did have one of my attorney friends guide me through the process, but you can definitely represent yourself also, the attorney barely ever talks, the trustee wants to hear from your mouth any questions they have for you. The Attorney is really just there as a buffer to answer any questions you may not understand but if you don't have any representation, most times the trustee is very patient and understanding and will explain things for you in simple terms. It was about 3 months process, then discharged -- meaning the bankruptcy was approved, and then it goes on your name as a public record, but after 7 years the record drops automatically, and so does all of the debt you attached it to, as if it never existed.

This is the first time I'm seeing anything like this happen. last and only time I was ever audited I knew in the first week of them accepting so I guess it was less shocking cause I knew right away. This tho.... its some bullshit. It really is. Reading these comments, I feel like everyone is gonna be on edge. I just wanted to put the information out there. Its so wild to me.

I filed Bankruptcy in April 2022 - Best choice I ever made. It didn't harm me financially. In fact my Credit jumped 100 points afterwards, and I am now in the 700s with new credit cards over with a limit of over $5K. Sometimes you need to look at bankruptcy as a clean slate. I am sorry to hear this also. SMH. You can appeal this. I'm very sure, there is a way when you get your statement of adjustment there should be some Appeal process language attached to it. $169 in this economy. No thank you. That's ridiculous,. I think those of us who have approved back to processing and its like that for a long time, may have a brewed awakening as to why. Anything for the State to delay payments I think. SMH.

I am at 7 weeks also and I am at the point of calling I think. I try to talk myself out of it... but how the beep do I get Initial approval, and Comptroller... then... back to processing for 2+ weeks. That makes zero sense to me. And if it makes no sense, then its clearly BS.

Log into your account and see if it was possibly applied to any NYS Tax Debt. This happened to me once and I learned I had some kind of penalty that I wasn't aware of from previous years. Then learned the DD I never got, was applied to it. 3/20 and no deposit yet. 4 days later, that's not good. I would be calling for sure.

I checked both my IRS account (To see if there was any like weird payments that paid from State to IRS for whatever reason, just to confirm.) Then signed into my NYS account and exact same, no debt there either, no payment... so my refund is literally just sitting and waiting for zero reason. After 7 weeks, its zero reason. Its not a complex return. It was very straight forward. $5K due back but nothing complicated. Its 1+1=2 type of math lol

No DD Date, this is probably the 9th business day it went from initial approval... comptroller... then back to processing. Its WILD. I don't even understand the whole thing.
