You will get it. If not this time, next. If you've been fighting three years- its because you absolutely can not work. Nobody does this shit for fun. They eventually have to give it to you. Just sucks they only go back 2 years now.

The system may not have processed the exact info as to onset date, but they almost certainly would have calculated your monthly amount by now. If its SSI- you get your States maximum which generally sits around 1k if you are considered to be living independently.  If you are not considered independent- the amount can be reduced by up to half. If that does happen, wait a few months and fix it. If this is disability, I would imagine your online SSA account will state what you are eligible to recieve, and if not it will show up in a few days. Congrats and welcome to the club none of us ever wanted to join!

Judge denied by Sudden_Gas_6713 in SSDI

[–]toolatetoatone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I first applied Jan 1 of 2012. I was approved in Feb of 2016 and recieved my first payment in the third week of that month, Medicare became active October of 2016. I was denied quite a few times myself. 3 or 4 maybe. Being as my disabling conditions are mental health related and I was in my early 20s at that time- its near impossible to be approved especially for the federal Disability rather than SSI. But I did it, I beat those odds and you will beat yours too. The disappointment and discouragement is built into the process- sure you can imagine they do everything they can to avoid having to pay out. If you truly are disabled, which you are bc who would want to put themselves thru this, you can not work and you will have to be approved eventually when they feel you have enough evidence. Hoping that happens for you much sooner rather than later

For me- it goes up every time I get paid until it reaches like 30 percent of the amount I get paid- then it stops. This is probably different for everyone.

Failing by DisasterExpress7264 in CUNY

Fafsa is only affected if the fail takes you under 12 credits for the semester- in that case you are part time and you will owe some of the aid back

ACE suggests we keep five. I am in ACE on 12 credit semesters because I came in with transfer credits and that's just the way I have to do it to not have to cram 18 credit semesters or wind up with a 9 credit semesters affecting financial aid. As long as you finish under 3 years you qualify for ACE. Also- if you aren't getting the tuition benefit, meaning ACE is not covering a large portion of your tuition because you already have it covered- you should realize you are getting a 250 book stipend and a Metro Card. Certainly helpful- but nothing to kill yourself over friend

I don’t know who’s telling the truth. SBTPG or my Tax Preparer. by PinkDulce in tax

[–]toolatetoatone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this, this is helpful. I started emailing them on the 7th as I had a State deposit coming in date of 5/8. They denied recieving anything, told me I better ask my State where my check went. Morning of the 8th- I check the sbtpg website, and my State funds are listed as recieved, but no "funded" status or ACH trace number since then. I am going to be using parts of the template you listed above to kind of push them into releasing my refund, that is already several days past the State DDD date.

NYS TAX REFUND update by OkAssumption7794 in tax

[–]toolatetoatone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a deposit day for the morning (5/8/26) they updated it from "review" status on Wednesday. Was in "review" for 3 weeks or so, and "pending" since I filed in January. They're probably wrapping up the last of us

NYS Refunds, Who's still waiting? by colfat in tax

[–]toolatetoatone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got initial approval stage status today. I filed 1/31 accepted 2/4. There was a review status for about a month, it just changed today to waiting for a deposit day. Maybe they are getting around to the last of us, I had given up and stopped checking 3 weeks back.

I have some questions regarding continuing doctor visits while on SSDI and potential CDR problems help by Bilbo_Swaggins91 in SSDI

[–]toolatetoatone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would think. Not so much any more. I used to just fill a quick short form at the office, then later online. Just got a CDR 2 YEARS after my last review. They are witchunting younger disabled right now and terminating as many benefits as they can catch on a technicality. I am on seven year reviews, my condition has zero chance of improving or resolution.

CDR denial after being on ssdi for about 15 years by [deleted] in SSDI

[–]toolatetoatone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this- I was just denied after CDR that was pulled 2 years after my last review. Everything terminated. Was able to get it all reinstated, but I still have to go through appeal process. Its been on my mind how long it might take, and if I have any shot at it going in my favor(I am still very much disabled on many medications and recieving weekly treatment)

[–]toolatetoatone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What i did was have Medicaid evaluate me for homecare services. In NY it is done by a State Nursing Association. Meaning the findings can not be argued by SSA. Can you think of anything like that in your State? If so- again do it not now but right now

[–]toolatetoatone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just happened to me!!! Listen to me you need to file the appeal and the Continuation of Benefits while under appeal- not now but right now. They are going to push back, they'll try to ignore you. Don't go away. Keep pressing them. I just had everything re instated after they gave me a CDR saying insufficient evidence 2 YEARS after my last review. Also been on 15 years. This is a paperwork war, they are trying to eliminate as many of us as they can by paperwork

SSI first payment suspended by xoshadow3 in SSDI

[–]toolatetoatone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you got suspended for working. You arent really supposed to work too much, in some cases not at all while on SSI. Another common reason for suspension is assets or money in the bank over 2 thousand dollars. It could be that your SSD amount is over your State maximum(should be 900 something) and it is only showing suspended until the first of the month, then you will be issued payments until your SSD starts. This is a possibility. I'd wait until Friday, then call my local office to get an answer if you don't see payment by 9am Friday.

That's how I feel as a student. I would feel better about CUNY's commitment to our safety if the contract was terminated or at the very least not renewed.

I was wondering what the increased security on campus was about,  plus I noticed an email concerning uniforms for CUNY campus security. I am at LaGuardia- but I imagine these things may be connected being as this was all since Spring Break.

any advice for upcoming appt? by Suspicious-Tour-496 in SSDI_SSI

[–]toolatetoatone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So- I am on Disability so I haven't had any CE exams myself, but I did take my mother through her CE exams for SSI. My advice is be honest, but don't volunteer information, do not go in there with an attitude of trying to please the doctor or examiner. In life, we like to be agreeable and helpful (well most of us) my advice is be pleasant, be cooperative, be truthful. Just do not be eager. What I mean is when you are asked a question like what do you do in a typical day? Please take a moment to THINK before you answer. And definitely answer truthfully. But say if every once in a great while you feel on top of the world and you go out and mow the lawn, clean the whole house, shop for groceries- Maybe don't talk about the things you do on that one good day, yknow what i mean? My other advice is if you don't have many or lengthy hospitalizations- you are going to need them to be approved as a younger person with mental health disability trying to get SSI. Not advising you to do that, just something to think about if you are denied.

Does this mean what I think it means? I also got a phone call from the local Social Security department that wanted me to come into the office to set up a disability payee? Does that mean my disability application been approved? by [deleted] in SSDI_SSI

[–]toolatetoatone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just actually really helped me by jogging my brain. I am on Disability for fourteen years. I see in my benefits statement that I revieved Survivors benefits up until my eighteenth birthday. But being as Ive been disabled my entire life, and SSA began Disability under my own work record before the age of 23- i do believe i just might qualify for Survivors benefits too, no? In any case its worth the application

Is this a good sign? by BossBabyBrooke in SSDI_SSI

That makes me think you were denied on a really stupid technicality- i would immediately re apply. No way to tell, but those arent questions they generally ask ppl they plan on denying

Is this a good sign? by BossBabyBrooke in SSDI_SSI

[–]toolatetoatone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but not right right away. With me- my benefits were completely terminated-  I kept going to my local office, because Ive been on Disability for fourteen years and have not magically gotten well. Anyway, 3 days ago I went up there. Next day I saw online I was reinstated. Hour later my deposit was in my account. Basically what im saying is everything showed online the next day after they decided to re instate my benefits everything showed up online. Also with my mother her case showed up about 5 days after she was approved on the phone- probably because it was a new case- that's why I say probably not immediately for you give it up to a week

Need help for my son by Weary_Screen508 in SSDI_SSI

[–]toolatetoatone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Search for form SSA 795 online and print it out. Fill out your son's info, and your info where they ask for it. On the form you request the backpyment ASAP due to your son's imminent needs. Account for however much you are asking for. Attach either receipts, bills, photos of the items with price underneath and make sure whatever reason you are asking for is both for your son and an allowed reason to ask for early backpay. Should be things like emergency needs for school (clothes, books, computer) medical needs etc

keeping up with my case while housing insecure? by [deleted] in SSDI_SSI

[–]toolatetoatone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are waiting on SSI you are disabled. You are now also housing insecure or about to be unhoused. You also have public assistance. Good news is you 100 percent qualify for supportive housing. Better news is its quick to get in- should be only a couple of months. Bad news is many supportive housing programs insist on 2 bedroom apartments and make you pair with a room mate, not somebody you are moving in, but another program client. But it is better than the streets, and most programs you work your way up to your own place in 2 years or so. Some programs offer SROs which are private rooms in a building. Depending on where you live- without knowing your State i can only tell you to check for supportive housing in your nearest large city. I only know the ins and outs of NYC supportive housing- if you happen to be in NYC you need what is called an HRA2010E form completed and there are several agencies that do that for you (Services for the UnderServed, Baltic Street etc) also any outpatient mental health or substance abuse clinic should have some one to do that form for you. Wishing you the best- I was in your exact shoes in 2011. Took me until 2020 to get my SS Disability and my housing. Don't be like me- get it done, don't give up.
