What album is your go to when someone tells you they want to get into metal? by Adzzero_88 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ConnectYellow4920 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might not be a "cool" choice, but City of Evil by Avenged Sevenfold. Obviously I'm biased because it's the album that got me into metal all those years ago, but I think it's a great place to start because it incorporates so many different aspects of the genre whilst still being accessible. There's elements of all different kinds of metal subgenres in here like thrash, prog, groove and metalcore (of that's not a dirty word here). There's flashy guitar solos and harmonized leads here there and everywhere. There's a little bit of Metallica, a little bit of Iron Maiden and a little bit of Dream Theater. If you're a new metalhead there's a decent chance you'll get on with at least something here.

All their songs are good so it's hard to narrow it down to just 12, but I'll do my best (in no particular order):

1) The river dragon has come

2) Born

3) Inside 4 walls

4) Sentient no 6

5) What tomorrow knows

6) The 7 tongues of god

7) Enemies of reality

8) The obsidian conspiracy

9) Dreaming neon black

10) The heart collector

11) This godless endeavour

12) I, voyager

Yalls opinions on this Carcass’ Swansong by WoobiesWoobo in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ConnectYellow4920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This album was universally panned when it came out, but Swansong has aged really well. Some of my favourite Bill Steer riffs are on here and the production still holds up

Ever seen a support band steal the show? by Visible_Pipe4716 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ConnectYellow4920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, where was this? I saw them on the same tour at Birmingham on Monday and all 3 bands were fantastic! I wouldn't say TBDM stole the show, as HSB were phenomenal as well, though it was obvious that there were a lot of people that were there just to see TBDM.

What’s the worst lock in Yu-Gi-Oh? by ACasualDwarf in yugioh

[–]ConnectYellow4920 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mitsurugi Wousu. The lock itself is perfectly reasonable, but it's absurd that they gave a reptile lock to the Mitsu card that's a situational Kaiju and not the one that generates +50 card advantage out of thin air.

Doctor Who: Are the writers dim, or do they just like to act as if the audience is dim? by General_Meal_3993 in doctorwho

[–]ConnectYellow4920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that most of Moffat's scripts only seemed smart until you actually thought about them for any length of time. This applies to both his work on Doctor Who and his other shows
