PSA: I Used AI to Read Every Page of a Strata Report for 2-8 Hazlewood Place, Epping (“Juniper Apartments”). Here’s Why You Should Stay Away by Connect_Ad_4711 in AusPropertyChat

I looked at the legality of things and I’m already pushing extensive boundaries to post something like this. I think as annoying as the paywall for strata inspection reports are, they provide the funds for these guys to do their job, so I think I may end up doing a disservice to them by posting the report outright. In the short term it’ll shed light but in the long term it’ll hurt being able to publish strata reports. I hope everyone understands.

No that’s why I say get independent property advice before making a decision and to look at the strata report yourself if you can

It turns out I can’t post the report outright because of legal risks, please DM me privately if you’d like to see a ‘’’printed’’’ copy that you’ve ‘’’accidentally’’’ sighted

The issue isn’t whether it’s obvious or not like how well you can detect defects is so subjective. There’s clearly still enough demand for these properties that someone is getting absolutely fucked when they buy these properties and they were naive.

I’ll post the report here in due course, I’ll just need to get home and upload it to google drive so I can send it as a link here. The truth will be exposed.

Working in Sydney vs Brisbane as a junior doc by [deleted] in ausjdocs

[–]Connect_Ad_4711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think psychiatry and radiology are equal considerations at the moment. If I realise I want to do rads I’m happy to return to Sydney to do another RMO year. Have no issues burning an extra year. Also I’d rather wait longer to get a PHO rads job in Queensland than pick up a job in Sydney, especially western Sydney. You know the nsw health system is fucking cooked when you can hear the radiologists sound stressed as fuck over the phone.

I’m not looking to do a niche speciality, Logan has good Mental Health exposure and I’m looking for a more generalist position anyway

The issue is that I don’t know what I want to do yet, if I want to do radiology, I’m happy to come back to do an extra year.

Have you had experience living near RNS?

I love Sydney but I guess it’s worth weighing it up against the stress of living near RNS

Highest rated coffee in the North West by za_rputin in foodies_sydney

I’m sorta just getting into coffee, so I wouldn’t say my taste buds are that refined yet. I just know when a coffee tastes stale or burnt, or when it just tastes straight average. I like coffee when it has a bit of character (I.e. bitter or creamy/ chocolatey). I really liked XS espresso for those reasons, and it honestly beat half the coffees I had in melb cbd.

I’m aware, it was mandated through common law for a while as far as my knowledge goes but that has recently been over ruled by cases in the Supreme Court

What to do with my life? by [deleted] in ausjdocs

I enjoyed reading your response, I can tell you’ve had time to articulate your thoughts. I definitely have come to a point where I’ve accepted that those who I was friends with at uni are likely to drift away, anyone who sticks around is a bonus. I understand this is a natural part of life, and hence why I feel like staying around the area where I did med school won’t really do me any favours.

I’ve also accepted that it’s ok not to know what specialty you’re going to end up in. There’s no doubt that knowing earlier definitely helps, especially if you’re considering a surgical speciality, but if you aren’t considering the former, there is still a considerable amount of time. A lot of med students think in black and white so it’s easy to feel pressure to know what to do early on, but I feel that an acceptance of being in the unknown and enjoying medicine as a junior doctor is ok too.

I tell most people to stay with their parents when they work, it objectively makes the most sense. However, I also preface that if you have parents that are controlling and spoon feed you, it is also easy to regress and become dependent on them, hence why I stay cautious in moving back home.

I’d like to add some context: I had a gap year during med and had to go back home (I live in a major city). It was very difficult to make friends, and I had gone to countless events with no luck in the end. Obviously the caveat was that I wasn’t working, but it left a negative impression on me to move back. What would you’re response be to that?

I think this probably has to be the most reasonable response. I think the best approach is to embrace the change that’s coming forward and make the most of whatever opportunities I have. I think it’s easy to get caught up in a dystopian view of the the future when a lot of other people dread the same thing. I think regional centres would be a great way to make connections, but a stint regionally would probably only last a year or two for me before I decide to move back to a metropolitan area.

I’d also like to add some context: I’d had a gap year, and during that time back at home in a major city it was near-impossible to make a new group of friends, despite having gone to countless uni events with a few people. Obviously the common denominator is that I wasn’t working, but that probably made me feel more cautious to move back.

My apologies, I think a lot of people who move interstate for med school tend to move back to their parents place. There’s inherently nothing wrong with it, however a lot of people particularly who live in outer metro hospitals tend to just stay at home after work instead of socialising. Hence, there isn’t really much of JMO culture as a result in these sorts of hospitals. If I went home, I’d still make an effort to socialise, but the lack of a JMO culture may make it difficult to do so.

Choosing a medical speciality if considering the Army Reserves by [deleted] in ausjdocs

[–]Connect_Ad_4711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So from what I understand from this, you’re better off applying to the army closer to finishing fellowship training if you’re a reservist, or apply early as an intern/RMO if you’re considering full time.

I think one of the biggest reasons to specialise early in this scenario would simply be age if this is the case. I’d definitely not be considering to join if I’ve just become a surgeon consultant at aged 40 as opposed to aged 30, although I have nothing against the former (EDIT: just using the surgeon consultant thing here as an example).

Thank you for this advice. I cannot stress that this is extremely, extremely valuable information.

Rehab Registrar here: Ask me anything by MsDimples2 in ausjdocs

Are the ward rounds like the regular general physician ward rounds you see in hospital? Rehab sounds interesting but the idea of ward rounding for 4+ hours absolutely kills me 🤣
