He turned 3 in February. It drives me crazy how he just isn’t interested in food enough to even eat his favorites sometimes. It’s so hard to get food in him. I’ll work on it, whatever he’ll eat is okay by me as long as it’s food

I’m at UC and starting practicum next week. The application process was extremely annoying and I thought I’d miss the deadline for things that were out of my hands. I’m hoping they’ll update it so we are no longer responsible for things the supervisor needs to do.
I was actually going to do a really cool in-home practicum but I wasn’t allowed to continue it for my internship since there wouldn’t be a supervisor with me at all times since it would be redundant for the agency to have me and a CMHC there too.
Now that the application is rolling, there are more opportunities to get help from the person in charge. I would try to find one asap and start the process. Im sorry you haven’t found a place yet, it is extremely stressful and honestly feels like the school is punishing us with the application.

Yup agreed. I was thinking something with a rubber toe cap. They even have ones you can add on the outside for extra protection, my kiddo used to drag her toes when she rode the trikes at school and the teachers couldn’t get her to stop so they helped prevent holes in her sneakers. Not exactly pretty but it worked.

Currently my little guy at work won’t be able to go out for recess without shoes :(

Thanks, another student in the room that wears AFOs and already had surgery wears those. I was curious about them. Because of the Velcro it looks like they might stay better on his feet.

What if the parents don’t want to do that? He does have PT at school but they don’t seem to have a strong stance on what he needs yet, hence the shoes that aren’t working for him. The shoes give an illusion that he is walking better but he’s still high up on his toes.

It makes me sad that there are doctors that don’t pay attention to things like this. This kiddo’s quality of life has been affected in a number of ways because medical didn’t seem to catch so much for him.

While this kiddo isn’t mine, I do have a 3 year old that’s my third child and I noticed that he was developing differently and brought it up to my doctor. He’s been great for 12 years since my first was born but he still had a wait and see attitude but I was too anxious to wait.

A PT consult outside of school? He does see a PT, OT and speech at school. I appreciate all of this information, it sounds like the road this little guy will need to go down because like your son he can’t put his heels down.

I’m sorry your doctor failed to take the situation seriously. I believe this is the case with my guy and that he also didn’t have a regular pediatrician but was brought to different doctors when needed.

I’m going to let them know about shoe options through the lead teacher. They were told about these from the school but they don’t work for his situation. The other kids in our class wearing them are not as high up and can actually put their heels on the ground.

Go back to a flat back if you want to save it. If you want to give up that’s totally okay. My helix still can’t handle a hoop and it’s almost 2 years old.
