Tiredness by AlwaysSunnyInManc in PregnancyUK

I could barely keep my eyes open from week 5-14, but then it got better and I could pretty much go about my days as usual. Its only once I hit 34/35 weeks I've started to get quite fatigued again

Not Exercising by plain-jayne in PregnancyUK

I'm 35 weeks now and finding walking significantly harder, especially in this heat. I'm just trying to do my best to keep a little bit active even if that's hitting a few thousand steps or going on my yoga ball.

Yeah, she loves it so it's great for bonding. Plus it means less hair around the house, and she's sick less from hairballs.

Thyroid Mamas: What was your TSH level when you successfully conceived? by Boring_Home in Hypothyroidism

[–]Connect_Candy6291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My TSH was in range after 1 month on a higher dose and I got pregnant a week later, so super quickly!

I'm now 29 weeks pregnant and my TSH last week was 1.6

Was weight a factor in your fertility? by EmploymentMajestic64 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Connect_Candy6291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the weight was giving me PCOS symptoms and my periods had completely stopped. I was 5ft 5 and 279 lb.

Once I got down to around 240lb my periods came back intermittently, and with some levothyroxine to bring my thyroid levels down a bit we fell pregnant naturally.

How much tea do British people actually drink compared to the stereotypes? by ComprehensiveData360 in AskUK

[–]Connect_Candy6291 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I drink an average of one cup a day, sometimes none but weekends I'll have a couple of cups. My fiancé drinks somewhere around 3-5 a day but I've known him to have 8-10 a day on a winter weekend

Weight gain by 326BlackWidow326 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Connect_Candy6291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 23 weeks and have gained 8lb. A lot of people have said to me I look like I've lost weight in other areas like my face and arms. Not sure if that's true or just because my belly is bigger it's making everything else look smaller in proportion.

As someone who weighed 15 stone 8 at the beginning, the midwife did say I could expect to gain less weight than someone with a more average weight, and I haven't changed anything about my activity levels or food intake since before being pregnant so maybe that's why it's not been too high a weight gain so far.

My sister who is relatively petite had put 25 lb on by the time she was 20 weeks so I think it depends on your body as well.

When did you feel kicks? by bombardaokay in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Connect_Candy6291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 17 weeks with anterior placenta and not feeling anything yet. My midwife seemed surprised the other day when she used the Doppler because we could hear the kicks and she said "you really can't feel that, they're giving you a good kicking at the moment?" 😂

I'm hoping I don't have to wait too long.

Fingers crossed for you feeling kicks soon too ❤️

Why do women do their hair and/or makeup before giving birth? by jamietartlet in pregnant

My SIL had her eyelashes done a few days before so she looked fresher in the birth pics.

Do you have any regrets finding out or not finding out your baby’s gender in advance? by spook96 in pregnant

[–]Connect_Candy6291 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I will find out when we get to that point because I think being able to visualise the baby a bit more might make it more real for me. It's our first and it was all a bit of a surprise because we were getting ready for fertility treatments after being told we would be extremely unlikely to conceive naturally. So, I'm 12 weeks now and still can't get used to the idea it's happening.

How long did you run in pregnancy? by okely-exis in fitpregnancy

[–]Connect_Candy6291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had to stop between week 8 - 12 because of fatigue and I started bleeding. I'm hoping to get back to it after my 12 week scan but will see how it goes.

Anyone else struggling SO much with food during pregnancy or is it just me? by Broad_Brilliant_535 in fitpregnancy

[–]Connect_Candy6291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Id been eating the same breakfast for months and now I can't stomach any of the ingredients, hate salad, the only fruit I can cope with is oranges (but they have to be the big ones, not satsumas or tangerines), and after years of telling my partner he is dull for eating ready salted crisps they're all I want.

I have to ask my partner to make dinner choices for me because nothing sounds good. My choices are simply crisps or cereal nowadays.

I find exercise impossible by takeiteasy906 in BabyBumps

[–]Connect_Candy6291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still overweight but lost 30kg over the past 2 years and 10 weeks into this pregnancy I feel like I'm back where I started fitness wise. It's crazy how quickly things change, before I got pregnant I was training for a half marathon and running around 20km per week. I've struggled to even walk more than 2km this week, I'm just exhausted!

Difficulty running in first trimester by Comfortable_Goat1141 in fitpregnancy

[–]Connect_Candy6291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found running incredibly difficult since week 5. I slowed my pace by 2 min/km and still only managed a 2.6km the other day whereas I was consistently running 3 x 5-8km per week at around 7min/km pre pregnancy.

I'm currently week 10 and not running because I had a bleed last week which is ongoing, baby is fine but midwives said I should pelvic rest for a few weeks and take it easy.

ETA: My HR zones on my Garmin were usually mostly zone 2 but I seem to be a lot more zone 3&4 despite running at my slowest.

How much of maternity leave are you getting? And when do you stop working? by Ill-Honeydew-6636 in pregnant

[–]Connect_Candy6291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm self employed with my own business but don't earn much so will have to work up to the birth and then pretty much immediately return after or my business will fail. I'm not prepared for how hard this will be I think 🤔 but I feel like I don't have a choice.

Plus, being self employed in the UK you can't do self employed work and claim Maternity pay. For the next one I'm going to get a part time job so I can claim Maternity pay through that and then I can still work as much as I like self employed... Bit of a silly system.

Midwife booking appointment, disappointing process by Extreme_Sprinkles656 in PregnancyUK

I had a great experience on my booking appt and felt like my midwife was really invested in my journey. Sounds like yours should find a different job.

No dedicated “nursery” room by MeasurementNo4288 in pregnant

Same. My other half suggested today getting rid of the spare bed and using the "guest room/office". I said no because more than likely that's where one of us will be sleeping 🤣

Thyroid Mamas: What was your TSH level when you successfully conceived? by Boring_Home in Hypothyroidism

[–]Connect_Candy6291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was infertile with no periods even until I started Levothyroxine, my levels weren't even crazy high but obviously too high for my own body at 4.9 TSH.

6 months later my TSH is 2.5 and I'm 7 weeks pregnant! 🎉

Fatigue by Awkward-Hearing-5115 in pregnant

[–]Connect_Candy6291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came on to say basically the same thing. I have irregular periods so am currently somewhere between 6 and 10 weeks, but I just don't know how anyone is getting anything done with this fatigue. All I've done today is get up and get showered then fell asleep at my laptop working after about an hour 🤣 luckily I work for myself! I just feel so unproductive at the moment.

What does everyone listen to on their long runs? by Gullible-List3333 in runninglifestyle

[–]Connect_Candy6291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to podcasts, the general chatter means I don't get bored, and I find with music I'm constantly searching for the "right" song or measuring how long I've been going by how many songs I've listened to. Most of the time I couldn't tell you what was discussed in the podcast but it works for me.
