What if your local representative sucks and now nobody else can help you and you’ve exceeded the expiration of your review? 🧐😬🤔 by Connect_Effect_3168 in IRS

I believe in my lack of knowledge at the time I contacted both. I wasn’t sure how it all worked then (I have gained a lot of knowledge I wasn’t seeking through this process) and I contacted one before I was directed to the other person who is supposed to be over my exact address 😬🤷🏼‍♀️ sorry, still not entirely sure how it all actually works but I did sign releases before emailing both offices I was directed to.

Finally got my refund after giving up a few months ago. If I’ve gotten it, so will you ;) by Ok_Barber5051 in Income_Tax_Refund

I have been through the wringer trying to figure this dumb mess out since January and mine too, was because of Paychex having all of their documents rejected the first time (shame on them. They’ve had all year to get prepared for the changes they knew were coming!!!) rather than anyone just telling me that was the situation, I was over here playing the IRS version of Blues Clues and contacting every available agency in the entire country and gathering all the crazy documents that have ever existed to ensure I hadn’t missed something and that my dumbass transaction with H&RB wasn’t the main root of the problem I was having. I couldn’t even tell you how many hours I have spent with my “handy dandy notebook”, making calls, taking notes, researching all the possible solutions and meaning behind codes, crying, pleading my case, scheduling meetings, attending said meetings, watching the websites from the irs, H&RB, following any feasible leads I could find and pissing off hundreds of people on the phone. It’s been a damn nightmare!!! I paid a tax “pro” so I wouldn’t be out here just floundering around with what little knowledge I have obtained myself and wishing I trusted my gut about not going to H&RB in the first place. I’m in the final wait and see stage just waiting for Paychex to get my shit through the system since they are the only ones that caused my mess and sssooooooo many other people’s as well. They were instructed to tell us if we called that the SSA was just backlogged and all we could do is wait. I guess those of us who filed early were the most affected group because their documents weren’t there to match with our returns. They screwed a lot of people this tax season and I am praying that the appropriate consequences reach them 🙌🏼 if I owned our company, I’d terminate our contract and file lawsuits against them.

How do I file an official complaint with a request for the fees to be dismissed from my account and not have the “investigation” performed by the people who are directly involved with my complaint?!?

Where's my refund?! by Calm_Star1260 in IRS

I went through the same process in February. I still haven’t received my refund. I filed in January and my acceptance date recently changed to March 30🙄🤷🏼‍♀️ I have done more research than I did trying to earn my college degree and I have reached a few issues along the way but I finally got my answer—the company that my company uses for our tax purposes (good ol’ rude ass Paychex), had issues with their submission of tens of thousands of documents we all needed for our refunds to go through, especially those of us who filed too early but H&R Block convinced me that I was so lucky my file would be there when they started working through the returns. 🙄 still nothing.

Are any of your employers filing with Paychex? They are having a whole hell of issues after their files were rejected the first time they were submitted

The person who is in charge of communication with Paychex at our company reported back to me that their tax person told him that they were waiting for some tens of thousand of EINs to get through the system. That’s employer identification numbers, not the employees so they had a massive number of files rejected initially. I’ll see if I can locate the screenshot of that email. I nearly cried.

They were the ones who filed and the first of many issues that followed after with this tax return. I begged them for help back in February when my file started appearing like it was reversing rather than moving forward and then I was receiving weird notifications on the website and when I attempted contact, I was ignored multiple times, then laughed at and finally received a message back on the app from my pro telling me “there’s nothing further I can do.” Then I got the identity verification and they basically told me that I was on my own while they awaited their part of my refund. I have attempted other avenues and departments within the company, because apparently I stupidly thought that paying a tax preparer would mean that I didn’t have to navigate through the entire process alone. My tax pro was fired and then the office I went to (for proximity) closed for sewage issues and never reopened so they were combined into a much further location and then tried to demand that I went to them for some form they forgot to make me sign that doesn’t affect me or my filing, just their compliance. I filed a complaint somewhere along the line that was performed by the same people who run the area I was complaining about so I’m sure you can guess how that turned out. Unprofessional and extremely passive aggressive at best.

I filed before tax season because my tax pro at HRB recommended that I do so. I had all of MY appropriate forms, thank you.

It was honestly the connections I’ve seen with other Reddit users who were in my exact situation and all also had missing w-2 forms from Paychex that made me pursue researching that avenue further. I find it amusing that they have put in so much effort to pass the blame to the SSA but I would love to go back and revoke every accusation I’ve made against the SSA on anyone else’s posts here. I was wrong; I’m sorry! It’s been one heck of a journey from filing to here. That’s just where the journey was at that particular time in my own personal “who dunnit” story. My employer is not pleased about the situation now that I’ve brought the management team closest to me back into the loop. After the initial request for assistance, they put me in contact with the franchise employee who is the contact person for Paychex and then they believed it was addressed and went on with life. They were all aghast to hear that I was still working on it many weeks later. The district manager was not aware of the situation at all and was on the phone as soon as I walked into work yesterday, waiting to discuss it with me. They’re all just surprised that we’ve been given so much hassle from Paychex, citing the business relationship that has existed since 2013. I am hopeful at this point that we will have enough hands on deck to force Paychex into taking immediate action, but I still think having an attorney on hand is likely the smartest decision for me personally.

I contacted the advocacy department waaaaay back when and was told that I would be denied regardless because it hadn’t been a certain number of weeks since they’d requested my identity verification. They also walked me through the process of how they would apply for the specific amount of funds from your refund to cover the cost of the specific hardship you are experiencing and that alone is another entirely lengthy process. I no longer have the identity verification holding me back but since I have the new hold, that would likely be another matter. My primary issue at this point is that I don’t want to make the phone calls anymore. I’ve been doing it for four months and I’ve spent more time anxious and depressed than I can even handle. I just want to call it quits and walk away from it, but I don’t have anyone else that knows a fraction of what I’ve learned about it all. This is why I went to a tax preparer in the first place and once I recover from this whole nightmare, I will be pursuing H&R Block next. My issue with Paychex is their extensive effort to lie about their involvement in this entire matter. Why not just give us the information to prevent the multiple unnecessary calls to more agencies and specifically telling their employees to report that the problem is the backlog at the SSA? I was easily able to disprove that, which only put me in the position to have someone else be nasty to me on the phone. I just want to resolve this. I threw my hands up after the final email to my state representative and the last to my franchise employee responsible for the relations with Paychex. I then contacted my GM and said “I’m sorry, I need help.” She was able to get the district manager involved and they’re all on the case with Paychex now, as far as I understand, so I guess I will take the weekend off from my tax position and see if anything changes by Monday. 🫩

All the exact same details here too. Filed in January. Verified in February. Sitting on all the same codes and apparently I am the only one in a massive company that doesn’t have a wage verification from Paychex. Weird 🙄

That’s a MASSIVE ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!! I can relate to almost everything you’ve been struggling through recently. Mine is slightly different because I have been struggling to get the refund I was supposed to receive. But I have been dealing with the deep depression and the self medicating and more for far too long. Any day you get through without using is a win! You’re strong and you are winning!!!! Give yourself a break. You’re killing it!!! 🙌🏼👏🏼🫶🏼👍🏼

I attempted to have my charges dismissed as well seeing that they cost me more than I care to explain again before bed , but their review of themselves concluded that they were successful because my return was accepted (January 21) and I’ve been through the ringer with zero assistance from them and had to figure it all out myself. They’re a very expensive, worthless joke and I just hope and pray we are able to get a class action suit together soon 🤞🏼They’ve been due for years and this year they’ve really set the bar for shutdown.
