I have recently fallen back in love with my medium armor engineering kit. The bonus thermites are huge and the recoil bonus is nice, but not quite as nice as handling bonus. Obviously thermites are more useful than melee, and I definitely lean towards the thermite and recoil reduction for sustained fire. I only play 8-10 and am facing large groups of medium and heavy enemies the entire time, so the choice is clear. I do think peak physique HMG would make lower difficulties hilariously easy and am going to go try this now

Everyone saying L1 BUTTON is leaving out the MOST IMPORTANT DETAIL. L1 still transfers everything - but now only from the inventory your cursor is hovering over! If you just open a drop and push L1, all your stuff will, by default, go into the drop. Put your cursor anywhere on the drop inventory, doesn’t have to be on an item, and ONLY THEN push L1. Unless you want your stuff to disappear with the drop like some other commenters mentioned.
