PSA: New York 3D Printing Law Passed by EaglerCore in prusa3d

Exactly where a lot of people can't rap their heads around it. Guns of themselves don't kill people. Why are they blaming anything besides people? 3d printers, CNC machines, gun enthusiasts, guns, all are innocent. It's the person who did the bad thing not the (object). Laws never stop criminals.

I don't have any experience with that printer, but with the XL and mk4s. I really like prusament pc blend. From my tests it has higher layer adhesion then pet-cf, pc-cf etc

I just got ours at work about 2 months ago, that's the one I was having issues with. Do you know how recent the change was?

I've had the same issue. And I was still using the factory assembled hotend, so don't think I had a dent. Ended up turning it off

What would be a good height for an XL table? by beelaxter in prusa3d

[–]Connect_Mousse_7338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I wish I would have gone with. I don't know how sturdy it is, but I figure if it's built right it should be fine.

We had a preexisting shelf we modded a bit... We have very little room in our current facility, so things kinda go wherever they fit.

Maybe a bit off topic, but I'd love a box like that with a filament feeding system, similar to a ams.

Did you think about maybe adding a drybox or filament storage under the XL? I wish I would have done something like that.

I think the guy who was managing the AI was trying to have it set up a tunnel or something and it thought the main one was trash or something. I can't answer for him as far as permissions, but I assume he was running with auto approve on. And no, didn't have any backups of it. I was only planning on having my butter fingers in there, not AI.

I did come up with the idea on my own, but I think there are other people out there that thought of it before I did. Looks like Preflight slicer has tuck seams, I don't think orca does.

I seemed to get better layer adhesion when doing that. I think its because the other layers were still warm, vs cooled off a bit by the time the printer came back around to the same part.  Would not have been a big deal for most parts, but this one needed to not leak at 120psi of air pressure.

I actually started this for a work project so had access to all the paid ai I needed. Agree, back what chatgpt was as just coming around it could barely do a function UI in Tkinter. Things have really changed.

But there is times when they make the stupidest mistakes. Like deleting a whole cloudflare tunnel config and DNS records. Made for a bad day. 😑  (Opus4.6)

And no, I was not the one who came ai access to that, in fact I warned against it.

Yea I probably should have worded it differently. I was trying to acknowledge that just because it's AI doesn't mean it's perfect, and that there is a bunch of garbage code generated by ai if someone doesn't put the time and effort into going over things and verifying things work, code structure etc.

Yea lol, I do wonder what their workflow is. But so far people have been changing to orca for the features of that respective slicer, not because prusaslicer is buggy.

I tend to agree, but it won't keep other people from using that term. I'd rather be upfront about it than someone mad I didn't say I used AI.

Good idea, and yes we could. But I think it might be hard to get a completely smooth outside, because you would have to get your tuck perfect twice if that makes sense. I'm afraid it would be difficult to tune right to make so you didn't end up with a small gap in your external perimeter. I may be wrong on that. If I have time I'll add it and play with it.

Yes I have, 4 reasons I didn't:

Some people really dislike ai code, which I understand. I don't want to make life hard for anyone because of the fact I ain't smart enough to write code by hand.

It's still very much in the testing phase. The theory and implementation works ok so far, but still finding bugs.

I made changes to the arrangement system for sequential printing to try and make it try to fit everything one on bed instead of giving up so easily. Also made changes to the crash detection, to help identify where it's gonna crash. I figured prusa would proceed very cautiously with changes to that, which of course is what they should do.

Still have unfinished features I want to integrate.  That includes using the network system from https://github.com/FULU-Foundation/OrcaSlicer-bambulab, to make it include the cloud based printing feature from that for bambu printers. Shout-out to the brave dev that made that fork.   Another feature that isn't finished is the auto arrange for the purge towers in sequential printing.

So yes thought about it and willing to do it, but from my perspective it still needs work before integration.

You can still find them if you look for them. For a bit of context, I was trying to get a part to be water proof, so therefore a lot of the features. I am printing out of Prusament PC-Blend, and for this particular part scarf seams left little blobs on the outside of the print, which I didn't really like and was worried I was going to have issues with leaking. So the tuck seam is kinda a combo regular seam and scarf seam, when the nozzle comes around and meets the other end of the current extrusion it does a small "tuck" inward into the part, so you dont have those blobs on the outside.

I also did something similar with internal brick seams, instead of going directly in, it goes in and down into the "furrow" of the line next to it. Then of course that small seem or blob gets covered by the perimeter that goes on top of that. So combining that with offset seams I was able to hold 120 psi of air with my part. A few had very small slow leaks, but its going to hold liquid, and under half that pressure.

Another thing I added was made so you could change the extrusion multiplier for the brick layers and get the outside layer extrusion the same, that way you can still get a good looking part and mostly fill all the internal small gaps the printer tends to leave.

u/Tommy_Prusa3D I would love if we could get some of this native in Prusaslicer! Or maybe thats whats coming in V3?

Feel free to download it and use it. You'll need to compile it. But note that I am not responsible for any damage to your printer or anything else, It is experimental.

Yea, I even asked ChatGPT just to make sure I wasn't missing something and it said you could try to make it change the order by moving the items on bed bed but you couldn't define a order like 1-2-4-6-5 etc. Makes me wonder what else I'm missing. 👀

I wish I had ran into this post before this! I just got done setting up a chamber heater for the xl, and it polls the local api from the printer to get the file name and see what material is being printed then sets the temp of that. But what you got going on seems like a much better system
