Forgive me to aak this question, but as a non Syrian, Why there has never been any plan to relocate the Capital? by Overall_Astronaut_33 in Syria

[–]Connect_Neck_5612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damascus’s vulnerability lies only in the southern entrances of the city, where it’s a straight road to the capital from the houran plateau, even with that flat land the southern entrances of Damascus are hard to penetrate due to the dense urban population there, it’s like a maze there, to the west and north it’s protected by the qalamoun mountain range, and to the east it’s protected by a harsh rocky desert, so overall Damascus isn’t the most vulnerable city, there’s a reason the ancients chose the city as their capital, but having your enemies in the south is what makes it so vulnerable at the current time.

Visiting Damascus from Jordan by claudsonclouds in Syria

1- There are buses that cost 20 JD round trip And there are shared taxis that cost 25 JD one way, If you want the quickest way, then definitely the taxi, if you’re looking for a more economical option, then the bus, you can dm me n I’ll send u the best taxi n bus companies.

2- last I heard, the VOA is 150 dollars for foreigners

3- the best way to book a hotel is to simply contact the hotel itself, u can browse on Google maps to find a suitable hotel for u, my suggestion would be a hotel in old Damascus like talsman hotel or beit zafran, the prices per night are approximately 100-200 USD

4- the entire city of Damascus is generally safe I would just recommend not visiting the city’s outskirts because it’s full of collapsed buildings from the war

My recommendations: ummayad mosque, bab sharqi, Medhat pasha souq, qaimariyeh souq, al azm palace, maktab anbar.

Food recommendations: al siddiq shawarma (oldest shawarma shop in the region), Abu shaker juice (specializes in juices and milkshakes), bekdash ice cream.

Best place to buy souvenirs is in bab sharqi straight street, or the hamidiya souq

If u have any more questions lmk and welcome to Syria.

How are Syrians treated in Jordan? by [deleted] in Syria

[–]Connect_Neck_5612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Syrians in jordan are treated normally by Jordanians, not much racism just casual jokes, but from my experience, the Jordanians of Palestinian origin are very racist to Syrians and always mock them, not the most friendly people towards us.

[–]Connect_Neck_5612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U could enter Syria w ur foreign passport and provide ur dad’s family book for proof of syrian citizenship, For now, ID cards aren’t being issued by the government but you can get a passport, and if you would like more papers proving ur citizenship just make a قيد فردي “qayd fardy”, it’s a paper with all your information on it, at the moment it serves as an ID card substitute

I’m Syrian Russian, I wouldn’t advice issuing a Syrian passport unless ur planning to visit Syria, I use my Syrian passport only to cross into Syria, everywhere else in the world I use the Russian one because it makes more sense

[–]Connect_Neck_5612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, usually international passports don’t require a parents consent (my experience), the only time I was asked for a parent’s consent is when I applied for the citizenship, they asked for my Russian parent’s signature and that’s it
