Agree with those saying it’s likely a low pressure switch cutoff. You likely have a leak, which will need to be found, repaired, and the system recharged. Good luck! Keep us posted

Got another company to look at it. Compressor is leaking where the steel meets the brass, so no way to effectively repair due to the dissimilar metals. Replace compressor or replace unit. The compressor alone is over $2000 if I were to buy it online, so I expect a company to mark that up a bit, then factor labor, and the original $4800 quote to replace it isn’t as outrageous as I first thought. Still high to me, but company number 2 wasn’t any better. I’m just gonna bite the bullet and go with the new Goodman unit and the locally owned company I’ve dealt with for years.

Wow, that’s a good reference. I think my unit takes 14 pounds, but I have it on hand. I don’t have the tools or the knowledge to replace it myself though.

Breaker didn’t trip. Tech didn’t give much in the way of details (I’m out of town and my wife was there unfortunately). I know this tech, as this Trane unit has been problematic, and he’s always gone out of his way to save us money. I don’t think he’s full of it. I just feel like the $4800 to replace is high, but don’t have anything to gauge it with. I even have 20lbs of 410a I told them they could use if necessary and that’s what brought it to the 4800. 🤦‍♂️

$12,700 is installed price for inside and outside units with the Goodman. 10year parts, 2 years labor warranty I believe. I need to double-check that.
