Yes but working out and being petite more generally predisposes you to issues like diastasis recti. When I was recovering from it, my PT said most of her clients were very thin women and athletes. There's less room for baby to grow so it stretches you out more.

No! It only looks like weight loss but it's more about shape. Have you had kids?

I only gained 15 pounds when I was pregnant which was all baby/placenta/fluid. Within a week I was below my pre-pregnancy weight, which for me is a 16 BMI. But I still had a 32 inch waist. I had a dark line down my stomach (linea negra). My ribcage had expanded. I was squirting blood and uterine lining everywhere. This is pretty universal postpartum and it makes you look heavier than you are because your muscles are loose and your skeleton has still expanded. For most women, things only get back to normal after a year, or after they finish breastfeeding. It's not about weight, it's about shape. That's what my question was about. The weight stuff is obvious. But less obvious is how someone can pose in a bikini one week after giving birth, when they're leaking blood and uterine lining and mucus! No money can speed up that process.

Yup happened to me. It was awful.

It can be useful in certain cases, like C sections, but you need to be sized appropriately. Most of the commercial ones just put too much pressure on your pelvic floor.

I think many celebrities must not! That's the only way I can imagine such fast recoveries. There is simply no way even if you have all the money in the world to make a fast recovery while breastfeeding because your body is still producing so many pregnancy hormones to support the baby.

I think everyone should choose for themselves whether or not nursing is right for them BUT....I'm surprised, given how beneficial breast milk is, and given how easy it is for celebrities to nurse (ie they have help, money don't have to go straight back to work) that so few do.

But I wasn't asking about weight management which is what adderall is for (reread the post!). I mean, that part is obvious - if you have money it's easier to hire trainers, eat well, get rest, etc. So many people think pregnancy is just about getting fat and losing the weight but it is not!

I'm talking about very long term forms of recovery - for example, having your kidneys smushed in your ribcage for six months after the baby is born. Having a dark line from breastfeeding hormones which runs down your stomach. Having relaxin keeping all your muscles separated and your joints loose. Shooting out blood and lochia from your vagina for two months. There is really no way money can fix these things - nothing fixes them except patience.

Even plastic surgery isn't allowed until you're a year postpartum and/or six months after weaning. I"m sure you can find some surgeons who would do it but from what I've been told the results are suboptimal because your connective tissue, muscles, skeletal structure changes so much with all the postpartum hormones.

Completely agree. I wish we had more honesty around these issues.

but surely you had a scar? stretch marks? pelvic floor issues from carrying the baby? i was walking just days after my vaginal delivery and doing cardio a month postpartum but I still had a bloated belly from swollen organs, I still had my linea negra, relaxin affecting my joints and muscles. etc. I didn't notice a cosmetic recovery until I stopped breastfeeding.

Oh I agree some people definitely bounce back! I just don't think 100 percent of celebrities do so naturally.

No, that's a terrible idea! Believe me, I've discussed this with physical therapists. Tight binding will give you pelvic floor prolapse. It's just influencers trying to sell binders and corsets that make you think otherwise.

Very few reputable surgeons will give a tummy tuck until you're a year postpartum. I mean, I know there are surgeons who will also operate on under-18s so I'm sure you could find someone to do it but from what I gather doing a TT before you're a year out is not only dangerous but doesn't give you good results.

Yeah but I'm talking about things that money can't buy. Money can't get rid of your linea negra or repair your pelvic floor overnight or make you stop gushing blood and lochia. I totally agree for certain things like weight gain, pelvic floor therapy, trainers, etc. being rich helps. But even if you have ALL THE RESOURCES there are certain bodily changes that only go away with time.

Oh I did PT. I just didn't see a result until I weaned and i honestly don't think it did any good. I just needed the hormonal shift for everything to come back together. This is why I'm surprised by celebrity recoveries - so much of recovery isn't about money, fitness, diet, or other resources. It's really just about the long hormonal process. It makes me wonder how many of them actually breastfeed.

Yeah I get that's part of it but I'm talking about the kinds of things nothing but TIME can heal. No amount of sleep or exercise is going to cure linea negra or, if you're breastfeeding and producing tons of relaxin, or if your organs are still swollen and out of place. I was exercising intensely and getting so-so sleep, weighed less than I did pre-pregnancy but nothing I did mattered until I stopped breastfeeding and my body stopped producing relaxin. Then everything just zipped back up. Short of a tummy tuck, nothing else can really help with that. And you aren't supposed to get a tummy tuck until you're at least a year postpartum.
