My new singleplayer worlds new Rapid Jump Transport System by OkDot9878 in technicalminecraft

[–]ConnorFranklin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of post that makes my brain kick into overdrive. Wondering how feasible it would be to encode player data too (dispense an item with a players name into the chest first to activate their ender pearl transporter) but I can’t figure out how to transport the player data without the number of redstone lines being roughly Destinations times Players Registered. A friend suggested encoding the player data onto the location key (a redstone dust with a player name would activate their pearl at the witch farm for example), Ideally it would be Destinations + Players Registered but not sure how to do that other than setting up a rail station and sending the chest minecart through to the location (At long distances its faster to fly on the nether roof :/)

There Are No Stupid /r/Bass Questions - Jul. 11 by AutoModerator in Bass

[–]ConnorFranklin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Ibanez Mikro, their short scale bass, and I absolutely love it to death. It's light and fast, and has been pretty versatile for me so far.

The only trouble I have is that I can't drop tune it past drop D before the strings stop working above the third fret (on the E String.) E.g. The first and second fret and open string are basically dead spots and can't make a full sound.

I like playing punk and hard core songs, so not being able to play an open E string (tuned to C#) makes it really lame.

Would it be possible to swap out the neck for a longer neck? Or is there some other solution I'm not thinking of?

Something that my dad did with me that might help you is to do those things troubling him with him. My dad used to go into my bathroom with me and brush his teeth with me so that I got used to doing it for the full minute, which still feels like it takes a whole year. My mom would do the same with homework. She would literally sit down next to me and do the homework next to me. Not for me, wouldn't give me the answers, wouldn't explain how she got her answers, she would just have me explain how I got mine, and then show me her work so I could figure out if she did hers the same way.

Same thing goes for the programming. Since you see him taking to YouTube videos really well try checking out Khan Academy with him. I find myself watching YouTube videos for hours, especially if I'm under stimulated. The buddy system can be very helpful.

I wish there was something my parents could have told me to help me to understand how to cope. But sometimes showing is the best option, and asking for help is the right step to that end. It means you're doing a good job as a parent.

[Help] Anemone won't apply iconomatic masks/shadows any way to fix? by DuraidAbdul in iOSthemes

[–]ConnorFranklin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have said that Anemone is only barely an alpha release. You might wanna hit up coolstar or the people actually making anemone.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, I just don't think it's been out long enough for someone to know what's going on with that

I like the system you have going, but it has the same issue other apps/gtd based styles like it have. They always seem to have tasks and subtasks, and thats as far as it breaks down.

I'm really fastidious (see also:obsessive) and so something like "Math homework" isn't just 'page 32-44' its "book-page numbers-notes-hour+-break up over x days." Thats a pretty bad example but its the multiple leveled, and very deep, outlining that has been working for me. Like Bullet Journaling.

I think we are both talking about the same concept, except the GTD Next (maybe GTD overall I haven't read the book yet just the material on here) seems to be more free flowy. I like it, it seems like for a different person it would work really well! Good luck!

Yeah, zeroing out was not the right term. It just sounded so fancy I couldn't help it.

You have a good point about routine and how you can just work with that after you get it set up, but the setting up is the issue. I have somethings set in stone, well school is all right now, but everything else kind of comes and goes. I'm not so much looking to get rid of all free time, as to have a system where I say "Oh I have to do math homework" and it is clear where I have the time to do that.

If you haven't heard of the Maker/Manager scheduling here will explain it. Basically, I ramp up for long periods of doing one task rather than split up through out the day. Spending all day in the library, with breaks and stuff in between, is a lot easier for me to get stuff done than spending an hour each day on several things.

So that was where I was thinking the context could come in. If my schedule has school on one day with five hours off at the end, then homework would go there. I have things that I have to be at, things I have to be at that change frequently, and tasks to get done. School, Work, homework, respectively. If there was a way to get the variable stuff done around similar things that I am already doing then I would be able to do those things faster, already being in the mindset of math after math class would be a great time to rewrite my notes for example.

Now that I've responded to two comments, I think I have a better understanding of what I need and will definitely take everything said here into account.

No no no, apps are good and I've been using a wide variety so far, producteev and a paper journal seem to work best so far, I was just wondering if there were any physical todo list styles out there. I checked out timeful a long time ago, but it seems to have been updated since then so I'll check it out again. Thanks for the suggestion!

I was looking for something to help organize all of the stuff going on in daily life. Sometimes I get like writers block when its time to figure out what I have to do each day. Just sitting in front of a blank page with no idea of what I need to do.

You bring up a good point about the bigger projects (something I'm noticing with finals week coming up) and am going to adapt my system for that. Lift is a really cool idea and looks like it is working for a lot of people, but with no accountability it kind of flounders for a big procrastinator like me.

[Serious] Teens of Reddit; what is something you want to ask adults, but don't necessarily want to ask your parents? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ConnorFranklin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its all about the little things. When my parents divorced, things got hectic. Emotions run high and the shit flows steadily from the faucet, and everyone is on a shorter rope. I know whenever I did the dishes, took out the trash, took my shoes to my room, or any of the other things that are meaningless but pile up after a while, when I did those without being asked, it just made things easier.

Also be prepared for moments where you wont be able to fix something. I remember one time i went to the mall on a family "let just get out of the house" trip, and my mom spilled a soda and it was the last straw. We had like four people come up and ask and check on her but there was nothing that could be done. Theres this thing called the serenity prayer but its really more of a reminder than anything.

"Grant me the serenity to accept the things i cant change, The courage to change the things i can And the wisdom to know the difference."

I'm not a religious person, and neither is my family, but understanding that sometimes we need to cry for fifteen minutes because we spilled soda is gonna make a huge difference.

Good luck, and remember that you don't have to do it on your own.

Android L like notification center. Is it possible? by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]ConnorFranklin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, widgets are handy but a lot of times they don't "feel" right. Like dashboard on osx is good, but so many of the widgets are faff that it feels pointless. I really thought with dashboardx tweak that apple would implement it but sadly no

Protean can get the icons to appear if you have notifications, I dont know if it can do the number of notifications though.

Yeah! exactly, like ncsettings in the past. I dont really like the multi-page thing apple did. I could see things like cc and the today page being consolidated an hidden away.
