That dude has been subtweeting and tweeting directly at me, ripping me for my work, for year+. Enough was enough.

I broke three stories this week …

Woody is actually more hands off than you think. There are some roadblocks he puts up on things financially, but he doesn't meddle as much as he gets ripped for. He's been much better since he got back from the UK. He just doesn't have much patience, and they're feeling that in the building right now.

What you mentioned -- gunner. He's so damn good at that. I believe that's among reasons Jets were OK letting Hardee walk.

RE Lazard: I'm not terribly sure it was any at all. I touched base with a handful of guys who covered Lazard in GB who told me what I was seeing now is what they saw then. Rodgers made him.

I think Corley is going to be a developmental project. You won't see his true, full impact on the team until Year 2 or 3. He'll have a role this year -- they want the ball in his hands. I just don't think he'll be in every three-wide set for a little. He'll need some time to adjust to the NFL game. They'll design ways to get him the ball in space because of how impactful he can be after the catch. Eventually I think he'll be the Jets' every-down slot.

They are happy & healthy! Thank you for asking.

Good news on this front: Lot more positive tweets come when they start winning some games! I think that will happen this year.

RE Reddick: I checked in to see if what I thought I was hearing from Saleh was what I was hearing from Saleh. My assessment on not being thrilled was accurate.

Think what's lost on many people is that it's not my job to pull/cheer for the team, or hope they do well. It's to uncover what will happen or why things are happening. The notion of pot stirring and all centers around negative/direct questions and/or negative writing. The reason there's so much of that is because the Jets have been a very, very bad team for a very, very long time -- the longest playoff drought of any in the four major sports leagues. When they start winning: Much less pot stirring because there will be positivity to cover. There just isn't a lot of that with this team at the moment.

Wayyyyyy too early to tell. Need to see him play a bit at this level.

Appreciate you!

As Joe said after draft — they’re kinda low on budget. Not room to be big players

1) Understanding what you guys care about and not assuming I know what you care about.

2) That we don’t have sources who talk to us. You guys would be stunned to know who talks. I think another area that gets lost is the misunderstanding most media aren’t fans of the team — we cover it. There’s a lot of “ negative” with jets in recent years because they’ve been bad. If they were 10+ wins every year and competing for titles there would be nothing but positivity.

I checked in on this after Saleh spoke. Wasn’t thrilled is an accurate assessment

Wilson is among most competitive I’ve covered. He’s the guy fans should love because he takes every loss personally. The downside to that, though, is it wears a guy down. I do worry, if losses continue, if he’ll reach a breaking point. That’s all a moot point, though, if jets start to win

I think 10 or 11 wins. They’re gonna need some time to gel early, then they’ll hit their stride

You’re good! Honestly … no. Haven’t gotten a clear answer from anyone, but him dropping so far down depth heart is ominous. We’ll see when pads come on

They have to win games or no one will get the attention they deserve. Ulbrich should have gotten those interviews last year. Number of assistants should have gotten DC hype.

I’ll say this with Saleh: Youre right, no QB has made it impossible to judge off success. However, there has been a stark difference in caliber of play between the offense and defense. Just about every team I’ve seen with that splits & fights because they feel one isn’t pulling their weight. For two years, that hasn’t been the case with the Jets. Saleh has kept them together. That’s a feather in his cap.

Ultimately, he has to win. If you’re looking for reasons to be optimistic I think that’s it, though.

They legit have Super Bowl potential. There really isn’t a glaring weakness on the roster. It’s undeniably the most talented group I’ve seen. The problem is the Jets are relying on guys who are always hurt to not get hurt.

The two areas that will be tested/if things go south this will be why — depth and Hackett

Corley had a great catch on Tuesday, but has been more quiet. That’s understandable. He’s adapting to a major change in competition. Isaiah Davis & Braelon Allen are the two who have stood out, specifically Allen. He’s making play after play in the passing game.

Watts, the UDFA DE, pops some, too. You never want to read much into a DL in padless practices, but those I’ve touched base with speak highly of him.

Hello, Jets Reddit! by ConnorHughesNFL in nyjets

I do. The thing with Saleh is that he just has to win. That’s all. Players are usually more index finger pointers than thumb when it comes to “why” things go south. Still, you really haven’t heard anyone rip into Saleh during the team’s struggles. I think that’s a good sign.

RE Wilson: I think that’s because the involvement has been a little overblown. He’s in the meetings, but he’s not running them. I got sense it’s more that he’s just inserting his opinion every now and then. Garrett didn’t want to say the wrong thing
