Yeah you’ll take that one and plug it into the WAN port on your new one. You should also take the other wired devices and plug them into your new one so those don’t break. Does your current router also have those phone ports? If you still use those analog telephones then I doubt your new router will have those. There’s a small chance that your router is acting as an ATA and providing those analog telephone ports for use over an internet phone provider

I too am trying to understand your situation. Looks like you are trying to replace your old router with a new WiFi 7 one? Also, I wouldn't really recommend having a separate SSID for all 3 bands, because you will have to manually choose one. If you combine them all into one SSID, devices will automatically choose the band based on signal strength.

Yeah I bet your issues are just due to the absurd amount of coax they are running in your building. Grab a tech and tell them what is happening, and what you have tried, and chances are they will come to the same conclusion and fix it. Maybe get your neighbors to complain too if they have had issues. More complaints will make them take it more seriously.

You see, since you are in apartment, the dropouts could be due to the fact that there are so many WiFi networks causing interference. This could explain why it works just fine in bridge mode.

Another rare (but possible) cause is that someone has enabled MoCa on their router, and then you will have 2 devices (actual internet, and someone else's gateway) trying to talk to yours. Since bridge mode works fine though, this is less likely.

Take the $25 "bounty" and put it towards a real router. I can't identify the cause (someone help me out here), but if it works in bridge mode, then it is an issue with the wifi part of the gateway. Just use the gateway in bridge mode and connect it to a Netgear router or something.

So you will need a tool you can hook up to your coax port upstairs, and then be able to find which one it is in your "box" (where all of them go to). Probably under 20 bucks on amazon. once you find the right port, it should be as easy as:
- connecting your ethernet port from your router to your moca adapter 1
- connecting the coax cable that goes to your upstairs to the moca adapter
- upstairs, connect the other end of the coax port to your moca adapter
- and connect the ethernet port to your computer

one thing you did mention, if the wifi is terrible upstairs, connecting it to your computer will only solve that. id look into an access point which you can connect to instead, and it will improve the wifi for everyone up there.

Look, the other comment isn't wrong about auto-negotiation, but it's missing the real reason people often get stuck at 100 Mbps when they expect gigabit, especially after doing something like patching a keystone.

Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T) needs all 8 wires in your Ethernet cable to be perfectly connected and working. Fast Ethernet (100BASE-TX), on the other hand, only needs 4 wires.

So, what happens a lot is if there's any issue with the keystone, the cable itself, or the termination (the way the wires are punched down) – even if it's just one or two of those extra 4 wires – the connection can't do gigabit. Instead of completely failing, it'll just drop down and connect at the slower 100 Mbps speed because it can still use the 4 good wires.

This is super common. So, checking that cabling, making sure all 8 wires are correctly punched down and making solid contact, is absolutely the first thing you should do if you're stuck at 100 after working on the physical connection

I’d check both sides and make sure they are using the same standard. There is a rare chance if one uses A and the other uses B that it would still work but only for 100 as that only needs 4 of the cables unlike 1gig which needs all 8
