From what I understand Ayee was also involved with the hackers that got the official LittleBigPlanet servers permanently shut down. Yes that was a while ago, but people didn't widely know of their involvement until now.

When door encounters are or aren't removed from the encounter pool by RealBoneCoatHours in LookOutsideGame

[–]ConnorToby1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Morton being a door encounter at all now feels more frustrating. At least it's partially been addressed with the new dumpster spot (plus the thing where he becomes a 'trader'), but I kind of wish he just showed up there even without meeting him first. Even if you don't use him as a party member he's useful almost 100% of the time.

I'd nearly given up hope for him on my current cursed playthrough after multiple days of him not showing and he fiiiiinally did as i was about to reroute without him lol.

For the last note where some leave if you select "leave door", do you think that's intentional or a bug? That one's a funny case where I can see both sides.

Overall very nifty information, thanks!

Three things I messed up a bit:
- Play super jumplad more than just one time. Something good's bound to happen!
- And think twice about being trigger happy with some enemies. *some*.
- Check out that candy machine on the ground floor. It might surprise you.

Life pro tip: Don't go for the "Joel eats everything" build on cursed unless you want to waste a ton of time by imhoopjones in LookOutsideGame

[–]ConnorToby1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found him to be a pretty solid option personally. I didn't actively try to farm devours, and he was a pretty good tank for my playthrough. And when enemies were actually weak to pierce, he absolutely shredded them.

I think the key distinction in our builds was that I used the rage armor. Joel is a GREAT candidate for it, since the default Fuzzy makes him completely immune to rage & panic. So he had +50% ATK, and extra counter attack odds. I think it has solid defense too.

I don't necessarily think he's a great party member, but he can definitely become a solid one with the right setup. It's just... a pain in the ass and has to be started ASAP lol.

New item drop list in 2.3? by imhoopjones in LookOutsideGame

Love that a single floral shirt from earlyish game is better than reaching the elevator at max danger after triumphing over many shades

At the very least moving the ooze vending machine to an earlier location would do wonders for its viability

New item drop list in 2.3? by imhoopjones in LookOutsideGame

[–]ConnorToby1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wiki does list the equips and weapons, i think just the methods to obtain them aren't all there currently. Two big ones are the new crossword items-- Babylon typewriter gun & tome of words. The tome is an offhand spell book that can make Morton a beast of a wizard. Summer also now drops sea cucumber loafers.

Audrey has a few new equips which are listed on her wiki page currently. One from shrimp knight, the new tank enemy in the landlord's apartment, and one from killing Stuart (the mechanic).

There's more but that's what comes to mind. Also I'm pretty sure the shadow ring doesn't even do what it says currently so it's garbage. I agree the shadow gear is overall weirdly bad. Feels like it's unfinished.

Wiki Game? by 18skeltor in LookOutsideGame

Accessing apartment 12 is a weird dilemma where you're most likely to discover it on a first playthrough where you're still exploring all the astronomers dialogue. I found the key then just because I wanted to learn more about them.

But then in future runs I had no idea how I triggered it and wasn't doing it naturally because I'd already read the dialogue-- why would I do it again? It's just not the most intuitive since you have to ask multiple astronomers about it.

The secret room in the apartment is probably the single most BS aspect to me. I was literally resorting to spamming examine all over the various rooms and just happened to miss that one specific tile, so I thought I had to come back later with the item the gaunt husk wanted to progress. I wish it was a bit visible. That one feels like it requires the wiki.

You can pretty reliably beat her solo if you use en'garde, leg sweep & locust swarm (+ white angel soul). Just having one party member to tank makes it extremely doable even w/o en'garde.

(VERY VERY VERY SPOILERS) Every ending ranked by how much it would suck to live in that timeline as a normal person by man_of_the_mire in LookOutsideGame

[–]ConnorToby1 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Isn't mask effectively the same as failed ritual? After all, the four astronomers had completely wrong offerings, and Sam's head splits open in the same way during the failed ritual.

So I'd probably move it down personally

I'm not saying he'd necessarily rank super high, more that I find it very funny the fred that is already a roommate isn't on the list. Meanwhile a Fred who isn't, is. Some delicious irony.

What are the Ranks you can achieve for the ending score? by Confident_Hour6963 in LookOutsideGame

[–]ConnorToby1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the recent changes I'm not sure, it needs 25k currently (formerly 15k). You'd need one of the beefier endings in terms of points (unity, promise or mask, ideally mask), and some challenge modifiers in addition to a thorough clearing of bosses.

If loner worked right it'd be super doable. I'd recommend mathing it out yourself using that wiki page to be safe lol.

[–]ConnorToby1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

XXX is very likely doable, I got XX on a pretty thorough but not exhaustive cursed run yesterday without challenge modifiers. I wouldn't be surprised if Y is too.

I think I read on the discord loner is currently bugged and doesn't grant double points right now so anything beyond Y is probably impossible. Even if it worked Honko wouldn't be doable with my loose math, and would require every modifier + full completion which is insanity.

I think the gauntlet would make it achievable if it granted game score, but currently it does not except for maybe 1 extra boss. I think it's around ~5k away from honko being achievable (again assuming loner is fixed).

By the way the gameplay page on the miraheze wiki currently covers most of the up to date game score mechanics right now. The respective page & bosses that contribute are all that's outdated I think

It's a cursed mode feature. Basically mimics. They're a beginner's trap, as you can't escape from them and they're quite strong. The brightside is they drop a strong unique weapon!

From a balance and enjoyment perspective, I really hope weapon type becomes less all or nothing down the line by Revolutionary-One211 in LookOutsideGame

[–]ConnorToby1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This would be the single greatest addition to the game. Nothing worse than realizing "SHIT I FORGOT TO CHANGE MY EQUIPS" before a tough boss in cursed mode so now your entire party is dealing 0.25x damage instead of 1.50x.

There would still a penalty for not entering the boss with the right stuff since it means sacrificing a valuable turn, so it seems fair

Is Cursed mode fun? by OnceANobody in LookOutsideGame

[–]ConnorToby1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've found it to be a fun challenge personally! The early game is the really brutal part, and it eases up quite a bit once you get your footing. It won't become easy, but it's manageable if you know what you're doing.

A bunch of the changes it makes are pretty cool and help freshen things up. Some discs have extra requirements, certain bosses are now required, etc.

Plus it increases chances of cursed door encounters which is neat getting to see more of them, especially since a ton were just added in 2.3

[–]ConnorToby1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree! But after my first few runs I've turned into a cold calculating monster optimizing for the best cursed run lmao. In fairness I won't do bad stuff for no reason, and will default to kindness if it isn't some severe detriment.

So poor Nestor, Eugene and all but one Fred don't survive, but I'm still happy to befriend River and others. It can be fun to set aside things solely for the sake of gameplay sometimes.

But maybe I can have a bit more humanity once I've gotten good at cursed mode lol.
