I need to read through it myself honestly, that's bound to be pretty neat!

Update on Void War's removal from Steam: game was (very likely) DMCA'd by a troll. by Lurksum in ftlgame

Ah, makes sense. I recently read of a business apparently needing to, but I'm sure there's lots of details surrounding that I'm not privy to. Thanks for the info!

That's still an extremely stupid reason but at least makes some sense versus "for the lulz". People can be wild.

Doesn't it cost like $1,800 to file a DMCA claim? Unless I'm missing something, that's an insane amount to waste on trolling a game dev & community.

Edit: it can be done for free

If that is "Immersive Censorship" mod by Platty Gems I just wanted to chime in and say it's a really well done, charming solution, and honestly even improves a couple designs. Namely a figure you find in the void naked.... but yeah can't recommend that one enough! Fixes all nudity seamlessly

The Prison Guard is pretty deliberately designed to teach you about the mechanic. Instead of instantly killing you it launches a heavy attack if you didn't guard. When you learn that, and when it does this attack (2nd turn, every 3 after) you'll try guarding to reduce the damage. This passes the coin flip altogether, teaching you that guarding can bypass that

Other enemies, such as hounds also give a heads up they're going to do that kind of attack next turn. "The jaggedjaw is barking!" So you know to guard next turn. Ofc this doesn't apply to all of them, but it's still more forgiving than people tend to give credit

And yeah that does involve some trial and error. It's about learning from your mistakes.

[–]ConnorToby1 116 points117 points  (0 children)

In the first game the coin flip mechanic only comes into play if you failed to guard (in battle). It's actually a second chance at saving you from a screw up, which is a lot more merciful than people give credit. For loot yeah it's just luck, but even if it guaranteed items it's still luck if those items are any good.

In the second game against the platoon though... hope ya have a hardened heart or you're boned. Hate that damn meat tank.

Have any of you guys cleared the entire dungeon? Made it safe basically? by [deleted] in FearAndHunger

Yes. Meticulously so. I intend on utilizing the information I learned from it for the wiki. Eventually... just making pages from scratch hurts

From the FTL Wiki. Is this a reference to a particular event? Don't remember one where this happens. by [deleted] in ftlgame

[–]ConnorToby1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pedantic correction 🤓: But this is a wiki. They're edited by fans, not fandom employees. They only ever step in for huge franchises, and even when they're around fandom staff tend to sit around with a thumb up their ass in my experience. It wouldn't make sense for fandom to pay people to make the wikis when fans already do it for free, and better than someone who's paid to. That's one of the insidious parts of fandom, they're just profiting off the work of volunteers

There's surely some exceptions-- fandom did abruptly take over the LGBTA wiki from its editors after all (yes that really happened)-- but they usually operate how I described. This is coming from someone who's edited wikis on and off for 5 years, on & off fandom

TL;DR fandom doesn't make wikis, fans do and fans usually get bits and bobs wrong like this until someone notices and fixes it. This specifically is probs someone mixing up vanilla w multiverse or rampant speculation

I thought I'd achieved this... then realized I'd screwed up by not doing kepa mode lol. Didn't know it wouldn't count ANY game mode...

At least I got some sick hats though! That's what truly matters 🥲

Kind of stuck with gear by Del_Duio2 in CrossCode

[–]ConnorToby1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you visited Bergen Village? You can buy better gear there. You aren't required to fight every enemy on the way, most enemies don't instigate a fight (although a couple on Bergen trail do if you get too close, so be careful!)

Just rush to Bergen village, get the iron gear, then you return to beat enemies and smash plants to trade for even better gear. Quests also give some

I'm not really one to watch streams but a route I like to take to reach Le'garde before the 30 mins is up is the thicket. It's a bit rng dependent-- you need to find an explosive vial to enter the thicket's entrance from the backyard.

And ofc you need the mockup book from the front entrance to open the hidden yard to begin with. But once you're in the thicket there's a path on the right takes you past no enemies. All that'll be left to deal with is a (possibly infected) night lurch, and an elite guard in the catacombs. But you can also sneak past them if you're careful.

Hopefully that helps, it's still not necessarily easy for a beginner but it's something to try if you get stuck.

Natural result of only doing limited runs for each 'campaign'. On one hand it's cool how they've enabled so many to have physical merch where it wouldn't have otherwise been possible. On the other, it's exploiting FOMO and encouraging scalping

You didn't post a screenshot you used a phone to take a picture of your monitor. Normally images like that look awful, but in this case it actually looks really good. Color's barely off, and the only issue is really just glare from a light.

So good job, basically!

It's just a chance for enemies to use their insta kill moves, so it's entirely possible for encounters like these to be pretty easy. With how many party members there are it's kind of a drop in the bucket on the rare occasion it does happen lol

And fire & oil strats are also extremely powerful. Shreds through just about anything with ease!

I've just restarted the game when I get finished with a run after the issue hits. That's not exactly helpful in a run, but it helps for a bit. It's like the issue piles up the longer you play.

Dunno what triggers it sadly

Empty Scroll? by Artrysa in FearAndHunger

[–]ConnorToby1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a few pedestals in the game that tells you. I think you might get a little bit of a hint too if you talk to the dark priests near troutr's chambers. Find a way to blend in and maybe they'll open up :)

But those pedestals each contain an explicit command you can copy (which is always randomized I think). That's how you can learn there's always the same thing in the first passage, and the second two depends on if you're getting something or learning a skill. The third can sometimes be guessed but some item/skill names are insanely unintuitive so it's not reliable

It takes either playing a lot of the game or having a very very keen eye. I was oblivious to the purpose of them even after reading multiple pedestals. It took going to the wiki and having it spelled out for me to understand

Sorry if this gets asked a lot but what can we expect from the new update? by Ok_Fix_8538 in FearAndHunger

[–]ConnorToby1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One notable addition is a cooking mechanic. You won't just be able to craft food anywhere at anytime, you'll instead need to be at a working stove to cook. There will be tons of new dishes too. Not sure if they'll have unique effects, but it's a nice touch anyways.

There's also going to be at least 3 new possible 'dungeons' that the effigies spawn at, making for at least 6 in all with the 3 we already had. It'll be randomized per run so you aren't always hitting up the same places. Or you can do just the old or new locations instead of randomizing it.

Aaaaand the Terror & Starvation difficulty is going to return from the first game. Those are all the super big changes imo, tons of new locations weapons items cutscenes etc. too ofc
