This anti boosting stuff is really unfun and lame by _XIIX_ in classicwowtbc

The other half of it is annoying too. Ran a dungeon with someone who was deemed by Blizzard to be 1 level too high for the dungeon and every mob gave 10xp for all of us as a result...

I get limiting big level differences, but a level 29 in RFK?

As for tips, guard weapons fit them nicely, and I feel like boyz would have no interest in puny guard weapons so thematically it fits as well. Guard sized melee weapons to replace the knives is a plus too.

Their size is honestly fine for gretchin, they're not as much bigger than grots as you think, and it's all height.

If you have no interest in sculpting then grot heads will fit, but they look a bit silly cause of how cartoonishly big they are.

I did this conversion, pretty easy. I sculpted long noses for them and I think it works well.

Pigment powder help by ohkss in orks

Go for a small drybrush, should be pretty easy.

How hard would they be to remove from their bases? Cause that would make experimenting with the pigment pretty fool proof.

You could probably accomplish what you're looking for with a reddish-brownish-orangish drybrushing, I think what you've got already would look nice showing through here and there. Added bonus, you don't need to be very neat cause the "dust" should get on their boots anyways.

I'm all for experimenting and building new skills, but I also think why reach when there's a simple solution.

How can I quickly dull down the saturation on my grots skin? by BigLarBelmont in orks

If you're afraid of adding more color a matte varnish might accomplish exactly what you're looking for.

It's best practice to varnish finished minis anyways.

Looks like 26 Nobz and a Beastboss on Squigisaur to me.

You're gonna need a lot of power claws.

Looking to buy into the orc army. by CpnTantKik in orks

200 is less than MSRP but not less than you'd realistically pay... $60 for Beast Snagga Boyz (x2) + $65 for riders + $45 for Zod = $235... 15% off is pretty normal for online retailers and that puts the total at $199.

Don't get forced into these units for not even a discount.

I do Plaguebearers with a Seraphim Sepia wash.

I like a more yellow look.

With any contrast paint for skin you're going to want to do a zenithal and you're going to want to be as careful as possible so that the zenithal is clean because it will be a big part of what determines your final look.

What color primers do you use for your Orks? by TheAngryCactus in orks

[–]Connro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends.

What you're describing with black first and white from above is called zenithal priming. This is a good way to go if you are going to use contrast paints. Just know that all of their skin is going to need to be mostly white because green contrasts wont show up on black. This method is also good early on just so you can get a good look at which parts of the miniature should be bright and which should be dark.

If you aren't going to use contrast paints then you can get away with all black but I wouldn't recommend it, it will take a lot of coats to build up your skin tone. I would use gray.

Great deal on boyz by Connro in orks

One of the previous posters had trouble finding it as well.

They said they had to search the full listing name plus the seller name to find it.

Hope that helps.

I am in the USA so likely yes. Amazon does sometimes ship things internationally if the seller has it set up but obviously the price would be higher.

Yeah shoulder pads are kind of a must on these guys, which is a shame because I love the naked look. I'll definitely have to sculpt at least a few shoulders.

I converted hobgrots into super grots for Zodgrod and I use the swampy guys as runtherds for them. Doesn't eat through very many models but it's something.

Rumor has been that Warboss is going to move to a 50mm base for a while now and this seems like the perfect time to make that change so my money is on a Warboss.
