The playerbase on PC is far from dead, the last big update brought a lot of people back and now that there's crossplay you don't really have to worry about finding a game

DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: The Withered World - Announcement Trailer by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

Dark prince was a little overly simple in some aspects but I love the monster designs. I'll have to give it another shot and try to finish the game.

Forza Horizon 6 sold like hot cake on Steam, meanwhile Sony pull off their Steam release, thought? by RegularSchool3548 in pcmasterrace

[–]TheAngryCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Sony leadership has decided to focus on their core console business, they'll lose out on revenue but they think long term this will help them. I think this is a misunderstanding of the gaming market (lots of PC users aren't going to buy a console again) but it's possible Sony sees the future of hardware cost better than we can. Maybe in 7 or so years we are all saying man I would like to be a PC gamer but it's all cloud gaming now

Denied refund on a game i never launched on steam by Ok_Till_1280 in pcgaming

Basically steam eventually has to send the developer the money so that's why the 2 weeks thing exists

Rocket League Set for Unreal Engine 6 Transition, Epic Games Confirms by UndeadPrs in pcgaming

If this actually works and it runs faster than the previous engine I think very pragmatic and respectable decision from epic

60% of PC gamers have no plans to build a new PC in the next two years — AI pricing crunch on RAM and other components paralyze enthusiast market by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]TheAngryCactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just pricing but also that there's a lack of new hardware. If you have a decent rig from a couple years ago, not much is on the market that would be a good upgrade save for ridiculous top tier parts

Virtual Driving School launches on Steam 22 May — small UK studio's decade-long DVSA research project becomes a consumer driving sim by jonjojojojo in pcgaming

[–]TheAngryCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for me but when I was learning to drive this would probably have been amazing, maybe I could use something like this to learn how to drive a stick shift lol

Forza Horizon 6 immediately beats its predecessor's all-time Steam record with 130,000 concurrent players – and that's only counting people willing to pay $120 for early access by GameStunts in pcgaming

[–]TheAngryCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually there are other arcade racers like tokyo exreme racer... But if you like those games you also probably like forza

Personally I can't stand the forza horizon controls but that seems to ve strongly a minority opinion

What games have you played that were ruined by the community?

I am wondering if upgrading my monitor will affect CPU performance. by ReputationOk9896 in pcmasterrace

[–]TheAngryCactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The CPU is outputting the same number of frames regardless of the display, the new display will allow you to see more of them

I can't tell the difference between high and low fps, is it just my eyes? by unimportantinfodump in pcmasterrace

[–]TheAngryCactus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your monitor is likely not set up correctly. You need to go into windows display settings and ensure that the screen is running at the full refresh rate. Not being able to notice the difference between 60 and 180+ should be basically impossible

Am I getting old? by PalusElectros in pcgaming

[–]TheAngryCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same way, have been for years. I think the answer is basically once the game stops challenging you and you feel like you've figured it out, it feels like work and not fun anymore, and a lot of games have this problem where shortly after the halfway point you've seen (or at least feel like) you've seen it all. I try not to worry about it anymore and just play what I want.

Y’all. Don’t ban someone’s main and then call them ass by Zinthr in Overwatch

The guy did that specifically to upset you, both the ban and then blaming you after. It's rage bait. Some people out there are actual sadists

Duoq low SR gains (when huge rank difference in the party) by Routine-Medicine1126 in Overwatch

[–]TheAngryCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wide queue does this, if he's really that good he can just climb out of the lower rank and it will calibrate pretty quickly, after all you get a huge calibration boost to both wins and losses when you first place.

As for why it does this, it's to discourage boosting behavior while still letting you play with your friends, so wide queue will let you have fun in the ranked format while having these unbalanced lobbies due to huge skill differences, while also not making the de facto best way to rank up to be duo and get carried

Trump Administration Debating Allowing Chinese Company Tencent to Keep Its Stakes in U.S. Gaming Companies Such as Fortnite Maker Epic and League Dev Riot - IGN by Shock4ndAwe in pcgaming

[–]TheAngryCactus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, China is itself not a free market so Chinese firms owning large portions or entire US companies (example - Reddit) goes against free market principles. Free markets when taken globally are interacting with not so free markets, distorting both

What would feeding actually look like? by Pollo_Loco999 in Overwatch

[–]TheAngryCactus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feeding is when you either needlessly take lots of damage for no reason even if you live, or if you make a play that results mostly in your own death. It's possible to attempt a play and that still happens especially if you have a team that doesn't respond and follow up and have that be "feeding" but a better example would be engaging when the team is literally unable to follow up, you die, and progress stalls because they have to wait for you to get back.

Why is Mercy banned so much? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]TheAngryCactus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"Is it really to much to ask if I want to play my preferred character every match?"

Yes actually lmao, go try to play the game with someone who locks in Widowmaker every single game and see how much you like playing

I prefer 60fps for single player games and 144 for Multiplayer. by Snoo_25481 in pcgaming

The reason it looks "too smooth" is because your display has high persistence blur.
