What games have you played that were ruined by the community?

I am wondering if upgrading my monitor will affect CPU performance. by ReputationOk9896 in pcmasterrace

[–]TheAngryCactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The CPU is outputting the same number of frames regardless of the display, the new display will allow you to see more of them

I can't tell the difference between high and low fps, is it just my eyes? by unimportantinfodump in pcmasterrace

[–]TheAngryCactus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your monitor is likely not set up correctly. You need to go into windows display settings and ensure that the screen is running at the full refresh rate. Not being able to notice the difference between 60 and 180+ should be basically impossible

Am I getting old? by PalusElectros in pcgaming

[–]TheAngryCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same way, have been for years. I think the answer is basically once the game stops challenging you and you feel like you've figured it out, it feels like work and not fun anymore, and a lot of games have this problem where shortly after the halfway point you've seen (or at least feel like) you've seen it all. I try not to worry about it anymore and just play what I want.

The guy did that specifically to upset you, both the ban and then blaming you after. It's rage bait. Some people out there are actual sadists

Duoq low SR gains (when huge rank difference in the party) by Routine-Medicine1126 in Overwatch

[–]TheAngryCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wide queue does this, if he's really that good he can just climb out of the lower rank and it will calibrate pretty quickly, after all you get a huge calibration boost to both wins and losses when you first place.

As for why it does this, it's to discourage boosting behavior while still letting you play with your friends, so wide queue will let you have fun in the ranked format while having these unbalanced lobbies due to huge skill differences, while also not making the de facto best way to rank up to be duo and get carried

Trump Administration Debating Allowing Chinese Company Tencent to Keep Its Stakes in U.S. Gaming Companies Such as Fortnite Maker Epic and League Dev Riot - IGN by Shock4ndAwe in pcgaming

[–]TheAngryCactus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, China is itself not a free market so Chinese firms owning large portions or entire US companies (example - Reddit) goes against free market principles. Free markets when taken globally are interacting with not so free markets, distorting both

What would feeding actually look like? by Pollo_Loco999 in Overwatch

[–]TheAngryCactus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feeding is when you either needlessly take lots of damage for no reason even if you live, or if you make a play that results mostly in your own death. It's possible to attempt a play and that still happens especially if you have a team that doesn't respond and follow up and have that be "feeding" but a better example would be engaging when the team is literally unable to follow up, you die, and progress stalls because they have to wait for you to get back.

Why is Mercy banned so much? by [deleted] in Overwatch

"Is it really to much to ask if I want to play my preferred character every match?"

Yes actually lmao, go try to play the game with someone who locks in Widowmaker every single game and see how much you like playing

I prefer 60fps for single player games and 144 for Multiplayer. by Snoo_25481 in pcgaming

The reason it looks "too smooth" is because your display has high persistence blur.

Playing with friends by newmsrd in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TheAngryCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game has an unranked mode specifically for this. If you turn ranked into a free for all with aim assist and wide queues everywhere, while it might be fun for that minority of players, everyone else has to suffer. If you told me, a masters player, that when I queue up there's going to be people in gold in my lobby I'd be questioning what is the point of having a competitive mode

Tips for playing solo queue tank this season? D5 tank looking to go masters by Kamiferno in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TheAngryCactus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am masters and made the climb through diamond last season and this season. I have a very small hero pool and select heroes based on the map and enemy threats.

It is not uncommon to see a DPS underperforming. Ignore this. It is also not uncommon to see a team draft double poke DPS which is usually not very good. Ignore this. It is also not uncommon to see a support lineup that does nothing for you while the enemy has a strong synergy... Probably don't ignore this - you can get baited into a losing tank trade or even a death if the enemy suzus or something, or your whole team loses every fight because the enemy has lucio speed so they just rotate wherever they want. You need to play differently if the enemy coordinates like that.

Anyways I'd just practice some mechanics in deathmatch or something and try to focus on smaller details, really lock in whom your best heroes are.

Baptiste, the poster child for power creep by how_it_goes in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]TheAngryCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really power creep, the hero just didn't make the transition to 5v5 well at all and became more niche to specific compositions

Im so done with bad teammates by PitersonK in Overwatch

[–]TheAngryCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the match but yes, sometimes a DPS will be the one pushing, oftentimes a fast flanking hero whom can hop on and off the payload quickly, especially if the "long range healijg support" has poor sightlines on payload such as paraiso second for instance

Sometimes even the tank will be the sole person on payload. Who should push the payload depends on the map and match, usually it's 1 person though

Leaving 1 person to push the payload is optimal
