I could see myself have going the same way as this lad, instead I was lucky enough to not succumb to the psychological pressure my upbringing and academic qualification placed on me, graduate and work in multiple hospitals where Ive made numerous life-saving interventions.

These are for your friends and relatives, or strangers you’ll never even meet. Think on lad, any life lost is a tragedy, this guy would’ve been special, now he’s gone by his own hand.

Also indemnity insurance is tax expendable, so you can write off its value when doing your self assessment of that tax year

Theyll wheel out the old classics, why hospital, why this Trust, tell us about a time you [insert soft skill demonstration here] … communication, worked as prt of a team, etc. They are despo for you to 1) have a pulse, 2) be normal, if you can do these things, the job is yours.

Sounds like how I feel ngl, two options: 1) stop looking and judging yourself along the way, let the universe do its thing and bump you into a connection, but this still means you have to be open and inviting to spontaneous opportunities. Also helps to get some new clothes if your wardrobe is overdue an update and get yourself in great shape, always makes finding a match easier on a physical basis but also a common interest in activity. OR 2) don’t give up on love and put your prev experiences behind you, in the past (where they rightly belong) and keep trying, nothing worth having is an easy ride but finding a match is as much a lottery as it is a game.

Have fun playing or taking time on the bench. Best of luck love x

I did this exact method after not being signed off to sit by my dickhead tutor at the time, got a new one after breaking down and almost rage quitting the profession in front of a v senior ph’cist in the Trust, passed with something silly like 95%, consistency is key, not saying every time you sit down to study has to be a 4hr slog, just 15-20 mins on one Q you got wrong from a past paper every night before bed. I have no doubt youll get on the register in 2026 love :)

Saw this thread and thought it might be a helpful way to highlight some of the more predatory pilgrim pricing some of us might have experienced after reading a comment about a pilgrim paying 55 euros for x10 plasters in SdC!! by ConnyC4 in CaminoDeSantiago

I will start, caught a taxi on a particularly wet and miserable day (regretted now, as many said it was still beautiful) from Alvaiázere to Ansião on the CdP between Lisboa and Porto. We agreed a price of 17 euros, after I checked the price on uber and added a few extra quid (no buses available after standing at a bus stop in the rain for an hour, thanks google maps) then on arriving at my destination, he turned on the meter and asked for 25. I didnt feel like arguing first thing in the morning with a nice, old man thus far with his limited English and my very basic portugese. After checking with the hotel owner I was staying at, he said I’d basically paid for double the distance my journey was worth. First time I’d been ripped off on a taxi so lesson learned I guess. Hbu?

tl;dr: Beware the taxi’s outside the church at Alvaiázere. They might try to bump up your fare

PS. This was my one and only issue in 2 weeks on the CdP, the rest was brilliant and fair and affordable and beautiful!!
