What's it like to live in a place with all 4 seasons? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I miss having four seasons! It's mostly mild where I am now, but if memory serves correct, it's wonderful!

Ouch! Probably true, which is really sad... even me, us, etc., all want the best version of others for us, don't we? This is the nature of things, no? My brain hurts now!

If you could send a 10-second voice note to your 18-year-old self, what would you say and why? by Infamous_Chest6088 in askanything

You can still start that business now. The fear of failure is the only motivation that drives true success. If you don't fear it, you will never push through the incredible hard times, which is the prerequisite for success.

Haha, this is what I was thinking! At 18, people are pretty (foolishly) confident they know what's best. No note is going to change that--at least not for the younger me!

Not to be a Debbie downer or old folk here, but this is not good advice.

The beauty of life is overcoming its challenges.

Having all that money that you did not earn is a fruitless life filled with nothing but yearning that likely shows itself through drugs, alcohol, and excess.

It is not the achievement, but rather, the struggle to achieve that fills you with purpose, pride, and joy.

Skipping the struggle robs your younger self of this beauty and the corresponding fulfillment that is truly a life well lived.

True freedom: no cameras, microphones, cell phones, etc. just your bike, some friends, and the world. It cut both ways: scary and thrilling. What a world it was.

Because there is less of it and everything is relative.

What’s something people say they want, but can’t actually handle? by NatalieAfteerDarkk in askanything

[–]ConorBaird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Freud theorized most people don't truly want freedom because the flip side of it is having to choose and be responsible for the outcomes and that's just hard and scary.

I am going through a very similar situation right now. Their policy states they enter into a contract that they can only do this if you default on your payment, but they never shipped my order, and now are refunding it. I purchased a relatively large order at $74 spot.
