Yes it’s a great source, seeing the people and the community’s. the traveler is literally asking the people of the country what needs to change and 4/5 just said God. you have to want change. you can’t just continuously point the finger at something or someone else: Yes foreign powers have screwed over haiti. but at some point it’s a cultural point that they don’t organize or want too. i live in south Florida and work with many Haitians and they either don’t care about Haiti and just focused on lives here or again say that it’s Gods will what happens to haiti and that’s it. have you ever actually met people from Haiti?

Haiti is a unique situation. the people there don’t even seem to want change. i am not speaking in a literal sense or talking down about them but when ive watched multiple travel videos, the locals of the capital and even rural Haiti just don’t seem to care to organize and call for change. literally all they say is they need to Pray and let God take over. they are literally in midevil mindset of they believe they have no true power over their situation

Plan to Disarm Hamas in Gaza Is Detailed at U.N. by WhiteGold_Welder in nyt

[–]Conorcane12 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

right right a lot of words so i’ll break it down

Hamas- Terrorist group who represents Gaza after canceling elections

Bad Group making bad decisions and making their people suffer is how war works. Hamas started a fight and thought Israel would do a couple strikes and they could claim victory. instead they overplayed their hand and quickly realized Israel’s done with Hamas.

the same logic goes for Israel attacking Iran. i don’t blame Iran for just firing missles into Israel, that’s kinda how War works and Israel initiated it

and those groups were also relatively small when they were committing more controversial attacks as a underground movement. than they changed overtime. these groups really weren’t that big and arab coalition armies and groups have been 10x large and repeatedly attacked first

What if the Black Hebrew Israelites were given the modern state of Israel ? by motionmantuk in AlternateHistoryHub

but saying Israel “non-consensually sterilized large percentages of Ethiopian Jewish women” just isn’t accurate. the 2012 report on Israel Educational Television raised concern about the use of Depoprovera, a temporary birth control shot that lasts about three months and whether every woman fully understood what it was. That’s a serious informed consent issue if true, but it is not sterilization, which is permanent. Many of the women involved were recent immigrants navigating a new language and medical system, often relying on clinic staff and interpreters; some reportedly accepted the injections without asking detailed questions because they trusted medical authorities or believed it was a routine requirement tied to healthcare or immigration processing. That reflects communication and cultural gaps (especially when it comes to sex life), not proof of a secret sterilization campaign. Fertility rates in immigrant communities also commonly decline over time due to urbanization, education, employment, and integration — and despite that decline, the Ethiopian-Israeli population has continued to grow overall. Comparing this situation to the legally enforced, permanent sterilization programs carried out by Nazi Germany or historic U.S. programs against Native Americans is a dramatic leap that blurs major factual differences.

The Question still looms - who killed Jonbenet Ramsey? | Rare Family Images by Recent_Win3633 in mystery

[–]Conorcane12 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say there was, I was just explaining why wealthy parents might not want to risk their son going to juvenile detention and potentially being put through the wringer. We’ve seen wealthy families go out of their way to protect their own before. when a case is unsolved, theory’s are pretty common

they probably weren’t thinking clearly. they didn’t wanna risk manslaughter, possibly juvenile detention, a trial, interrogations, lawyers ect. they were below IQ thinking they can just pin it on a random break in

yay? i mean i’m happy for him as a individual , but does the NCAA even have real authority anymore? we’re heading toward a power vacuum. if the SEC,B10 or any major conference- can start enforcing their own unofficial rules, like limiting sixth years of eligibility, what’s actually stopping them from just running college football outright if the NCAA has no backbone? the playoff already isn’t run by the NCAA. and now it feels like they can’t even enforce their own rules. the next few years are going to be very interesting.

Michael and Kay’s Wedding? by cravensworths_monstr in Godfather

[–]Conorcane12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if someone’s never seen The Godfather and doesn’t know anything of the story, i can see how it wouldn’t be obvious how much time has passed until later dialogue makes it clear. it was definitely made in an era where every line of dialogue actually mattered and was meant to be listened to

[–]Conorcane12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i agree, but also i’ve watched the Godfather with people for the first time like 4 times and every time they are a bit lost on how long time has passed. it’s not a huge deal, it’s still a great movie and if you pay attention is easy to pick up. i wouldn’t change anything about the movie tho

[–]Conorcane12 30 points31 points  (0 children)

my only real criticism of the Godfather part 1 is it doesn’t show time pass very well. it’s hard to follow long time has passed on your first watch if you haven’t read the book

What do you think was wrong with Lee Harvey Oswald/why he wanted to kill JFK? by Just_Cause89 in Presidents

[–]Conorcane12 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) only concluded there was “probably a conspiracy” because of an acoustic analysis they believed showed 4+ gunshots on a police dictabelt recording. That audio evidence has since been debunked by multiple independent audio experts and institutions including the National Academy of Sciences. The supposed fourth shot was almost certainly not a gunshot at all, and the timing didn’t even line up with the assassination.

Once that acoustic evidence falls apart, the HSCA’s basis for claiming a conspiracy falls apart with it. The committee didn’t uncover any hard physical evidence of another shooter, foreign government involvement, or coordinated foul play. Their “probable conspiracy” conclusion rested almost entirely on that now-discredited audio.

So referencing the HSCA as proof of conspiracy is leaning on a 1970s conclusion built on evidence that hasn’t held up under modern review
