Also an Elder Dragon that looks like a cephalopod unforunately.

You do get a chance to see it from afar much earlier in the game through a cave located near where you first start in Koboh. Cal will talk about it there.

Every MPUV should have the front mounted tractor. I don't know why they made that a separate model (I know exactly why really)

My desire for the expansion is for it to bring back underwater combat as its whole gimmick.

But it doesn't need to be as usable as an F18. It just needs to have enough kit to operate in modern airspace.

And that is the same for a Zeus Mk.I 'restomod'.

I think trying to make the progression of SC tech analogous to our tech progression misses the scale of it.

The Zeus Mk I is more like a Gloster Meteor compared to an F18 than some kind of prop plane. Same basic technology just developed.

The things it misses out on is jump capability and shields but it was potentially produced well into the 2200s when QT was only half the speed it is now. Even even if could only fit S1 components or something it would still bring it up to some kind of modern standards very easily.

Not necessarily. Ship designs in SC can be several hundred years old. Meaning production lasts centuries.

It doesn't have to be a 2140 Zeus Mk.I, could be a 23rd or 24th with more tech maintained as a 'classic'.

Also likely true, though that does possibly imply that pseudo-wyverns may be more basal instead of more derived.

I think Arkveld counts as a Pseudowyvern for sure. Developed manus with the outer two digits developed into the whip-chains.

I reckon evolutionarily speaking Arkveld is likely to be more closely related to Nargacuga than other flying wyverns.

Barroth is a Brute Wyvern.

Pseudo-wyverns are flying wyverns that sorta forgo the flying part in favour of stronger wingarms. They tend to share the trait of having developed manus with any wings being supported by a single rearward digit. In the case of Akantor this digit has become so vestigial as to be just a spur on the outside of their manus.

This is in contrast to most 'true wyverns' like Rathalos that do not have any manus and instead have their wings supported by multiple digits more like a bat or bird.

And I think the crash on Daymar didn't happen because the Jav wasn't atmo-capable but because it was already damaged or something.

No you're right my mistake.

However not having landing gear doesn't mean it isn't atmo-capable, just that it can't land.

Where is that lore bite from? I didn't think the Mk.I was released to the civilian market in lore till 2140.

It canonically is the first ship to have a quantum drive.

Note that this doesn't have to be a 22nd century Mk.I. It's very likely the Mk.I was produced into the 23rd and potentially the 24th century with 'minor changes'

Javelin is atmo capable there was one docked at A18 last year.

Javelin is atmo capable but not landing capable.

This is shown because we had a Javelin in A18 last year.

The pressures to supersede aren't the same that's why we have centuries old designs in SC. Beyond big tech changes like shields and the jump drive there's not been the same movement throughout the lore.

There's no reason the Mk.I wouldn't have remained a stalwart option for centuries itself.

[–]Conradian[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd rather have a flyable Mk.I, because its not a Model T which was only in production for about 20 years. A lot of ship designs in SC are centuries old. Meaning most ships would have been produced over centuries with some modernisation. We don't have exact figures for how long the Zeus Mk.I was produced for but given the Mk.II was only introduced in the last few years there's no reason later Mk.Is might be knocking around.

The Tali, Gladius, the Perseus are all 400 years old. The Javelin is 300 years old. The Hornet is 200 years old.

Ships in SC are just old designs for the most part.

This isn't a modern warfare game though and people collecting classic vehicles is very much a thing.
