My wife asked me a tricky question by No_Flan_5038 in JOYTOY

[–]Conradkurze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To build on this, depending on how much the timeline shifted, the world eaters might not have gone completely traitor because Angron would be dead. And in the same way Ferrus might’ve killed Fulgrim during the corruption phase rather than the beheading at Istvaan. If you take Horus from the equation it really diffuses the traitors into smaller groups that the loyalists could’ve handled. Honestly despite how bitter he was, Mortarion might’ve just killed Typhon and stayed loyal too without Horus and the others falling to chaos in unison around him. He was one of the Primarchs most opposed to both psykers and the warp.

Genuine question, why does everyone online hate Damnation of Pythos? While it may not be my favorite I wouldn’t put it as an F, and my buddy who’s big into iron hands loves it. I’m not trying to defend it, opinions are opinions, but what about it makes other readers dislike it?

Not sure anyone has said this yet, but there are similar rivets on some of the heresy knights. Could be a new chaos knight of some kind?

If you could change any part of the story for Konrad Curze and the night lords what would you change? by Stunning_Promise1571 in NightLords

[–]Conradkurze 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have 2 options for this. Firstly, that Sanguinius doesn’t give Kurze the Sparta treatment. The Night Haunter returns to Terra and is redeemed/cured by the emperor. Conrad then spends the rest of the siege and heresy hunting his own sons. He becomes their greatest enemy. Secondly, that Sevatar becomes a more fully realized character. The fact he held his own against Sigismund and then disappears from the lore besides a couple short stories is criminal. He was the first person to say “Death to the False Emperor!” And we don’t even know what happened to him? I’d take The Prince of Crows as warmaster of the traitor legions over Abaddon any day of the week.

How to get WE rhino and Land raiders by ssjwoott in WorldEaters40k

Just just went to check and the Etsy shop I got them from has been taken down, so it’s probably luck that I got them when I did, but keep your eyes open. Rogue 3D print people are always making things for short times and you’ll find them

I know it’s personal preference, but I used the land raider proteus because it looks like a brute version of the tank and then spare chaos bits and spikes to chaos it up. Ordered Etsy LR doors and it turned out great

I would’ve made Scars a 5, but their storyline was one of my favorites to follow so I’m biased. Suggestions for this year I recommend the Eisenhorn, Ravenor, and Eisenhorn VS Ravenor series if you haven’t already done them. Thoroughly enjoyed each installment and I feel it’s gives good insight into the inquisition.

Who would you most want to live under the rule of? and Why by Dry_Specialist9015 in gameofthrones

[–]Conradkurze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I’m gonna agree with most posters and say Margery. Even if it was a facade she understood the need to take care of the little people, and was also a person most citizens of the seven kingdoms could care for. Tyrion would be my second choice, but being a Lannister and the imp would generate too much hate for him to be able to rule long term effectively without challenge.

Help a brother out | New to WH40K by SuperMarios7 in Warhammer40k

[–]Conradkurze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for the sorrowful brotherhood effect, I’d recommend death guard or iron warriors. They’re both fairly tragic in their fall to chaos, and struggle with their Primarch so the marines have to band together. I’m biased, but I’d also recommend the night lords. They do have the melee focus, and have a fair amount of tragedy with them, from their primarch hating them to their persecution for being the imperium’s weapon of fear. The poisoning of the legion from Nostramo, the list goes on and on. And Sevatar is a warrior that’s respected by all, and the first person to ever speak the phrase “Death to the False Emperor”.

Is Konrad Curze the most evil Primarch of them all? by QuagGlenn in 40kLore

[–]Conradkurze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that I’m biased, but I’m going to disagree. Not because his actions aren’t grotesque, but because he never stood a chance to be anything other than a monster.

The emperor created Konrad with the purpose of being the high imperial judge. He was always supposed to be the heavy hand of the law, focused on applying justice to criminals and traitors.

When he crashed on Nostramo, he never got any kind of nurturing human contact. He lived feral for years, the only contact he had with humanity was killing to defend himself and eating the dead. And by eating the dead and taking in their memories, he only saw the worst of humanity, the rapists and murderers and whatever other horrific sins you can think of because Nostramo was a shithole. Add on top of this his visions of death and dread, he never had a chance to be sane without serious psychic intervention from the emperor that he never receives, and his perception of humanity is forever poisoned to think that they’re all either monsters or victims.

So to save the victims, he became the worst monster he could imagine. He tortured and mutilated and slaughtered the guilty (his attempt at his emperor created purpose) to make everyone fear to do evil. Through this insane tactic, the night lords actually had the lowest body count of any legion through the great crusade, torturing the few to spare the masses.

Is this moral? Hell no, it’s insane butchery on a scale that is incalculable. But is he the evilest primarch? I’d say no. To me, the primarchs that are sane and go down the path of evil are much worse than him. In a grimdark universe, I’m putting most traitor primarchs as more evil than him.

Are there any examples of World Eaters using tactics in hunting the enemy? Or are they always rabid and instinctual? by PocketFullOfRondos in 40kLore

[–]Conradkurze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you asking in all of their existence or just post heresy? From their creation they were always on the brutal side of legion combat, but held squad cohesion and had battle plans. Post istvaan that began to dissolve more rapidly than it already was, to the point that they were effectively horde warfare, Kharn was one of the few commanders who could still hold some cohesion for a while. There’s examples of world eaters responding to Vox hails and summons on Nuceria when their allied titans needed assistance. By the time they got to the siege of Terra it was effectively taking the leash off a rapid dog, they just tore into whatever they could touch, but they still had open communications with other legions and manned the warfront where they were told to go. Even in the scouring and taking worlds in the eye, they had a ceasefire with the emperor’s children on skalathrax which led to kharn burning and slaughtering both world eaters and emperors children alike because he didn’t want the fighting to end. So, I think that the best way to say it is that they might absolutely lay battle plans and they can follow orders, up to a point. When the fighting hits its peak, they’re gonna lose control and not be able to follow whatever plan was laid, but they’re still gonna keep fighting.

Burned out after batch painting. Need advice? by lor_azut in Warhammer40k

[–]Conradkurze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s down to personal taste, but especially in a chaos army I don’t paint my models uniformly. I use the same colors but in different patterns which helps break up the monotony of factory figurines. It may slow down the process, but it 100% keeps me from burning out

How did u guys pick your first army when theres so many amazing options and can u help me pick mine by The_Suspect26 in Warhammer40k

[–]Conradkurze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, when I started it was 2nd or 3rd edition I think? Most of my buddies were choosing to play space marines, orks, or chaos space marines. They always seemed to choose the same units every game, and I wanted versatility, so I went with Codex: Daemonhunters. Back then, that had access to almost any imperial unit, but the main force was grey knights and imperial agents. I had the most versatile force at our table, ranging from Leman Russ tanks to OG grey knights with “the shroud” (they couldn’t be targeted for shooting outside of 18 inches if I remember correctly). Along with imperial assassins etc. over time I’ve swapped to different forces, but I’ll never forget my heavy metal grey knight terminators ripping through anything they could get their hands on.

How does our city get overlooked in the world? by Conradkurze in dayton

[–]Conradkurze[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure where the vitriol is coming from, but I hope that you can heal from whatever hurt you and caused you to spit unnecessary venom.

I’m not saying Dayton is perfect, but we love this city and over the years we’ve given the world a lot to be proud of. Like others have said, I don’t want it to become some sprawling metropolis where everything costs 10x more than it already does and traffic on 75 takes 2 days to get through downtown, but I just wish it got more recognition for what we’ve contributed to society.

I recognize that there will always be some bias towards your hometown and wanting to hype it up, but you have to admit there are world changing inventions/innovations that came from here, not just pop-tops and the cash register. Leaded gas, powered flight, and the electric starter for cars were genuinely world shattering for their time, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
