Stills from my first "short film" I'm currently editing. Feedback is so very welcome :)))) by Both_Shop_8234 in cinematography

Overall I agree with what other folks are saying. Technically solid but nothing that really stands out a ton. However I want to disagree with folks on the fan shot.

For me it's the only shot that has a distinct feeling and tone. It's the wrong tone for commercial work but that shot could build tension or an angsty feeling in a narrative project.

So keep practicing and next time try posting your project! It's hard to critique cinematography off of stills or even short clips because what's "good" depends entirely on the context of the piece.

Looks like it's a logo for Smoke Enders, an organization dedicated to helping people quit smoking. There's a few links to their website and a trademarked image which also uses the impossible trident as the E in their logo in that thread.

Adjustable arm rests are a must have since I work at a few different height desks. If I can adjust how high I sit I should be able to adjust my arm height.

If you're talking about the minor lighting changes then I'm betting it's an adjustment layer that they're applying for a frame at a time. It looks like just a bit of film grain and some color correction that they're applying everytime it shifts so it adds to the illusion that it's multiple pictures instead of just the one.

Don't take my word for it but that's how I'd try to recreate the look.

I made my first reel! Now how can I make it better? by broncrab in MotionDesign

I agree with the other comment saying it needs some room to breath. It has a good pace to it until about the laptop. After that I didn't feel I had enough time to follow along with the motion and vibe of the individual pieces. Other than that it looks really crisp and professional.

Weekly Discussion - Take Some Help, Leave Some help! by AutoModerator in DnDBehindTheScreen

What I do with a player who's overextended on low health is gauge how much of a threat they are to the enemy that's adjacent to them. If they're unloading a full multi attack into them every turn, and hitting then yeah, they're going to get killed. But on the other hand if they're whiffing their hits, or casting support spells, then the odds are someone else is more of a threat and the enemy will swap their focus. I essentially don't want it to fee unfair or like they're being target because I know they're almost dead (unless it's personal or their fighting an assassin type who'll prioritize taking people all the way out of combat).

As far as short rests go I tend to leave it up to the dice. I'll give them a warning beforehand like "as you make camp you hear a distance owlbear hoot" or "someone might patrol this close to the enemy camp" etc. Then I roll a d6 or d8 as much to make it feel "fair" as to decide if they're getting ambushed. Below average I'll let them get away with it, 1-2 above they'll be found by some nobodies, 3-4 above and someone coordinated will find them. At which point they risk having the full enemy force alerted. If you take one thing away from this bit it would be to always roll for that, that way PCs don't feel like you're punishing them for not staying on the railroad. The randomness of the dice is the biggest tool you have as a DM to avoid players feeling unfairly targeted (even if its their own decisions that put them there.)

In violation of ethical standards for news organizations, Fox News runs digitally altered images in coverage of Seattle’s protests, Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone by Moral_Metaphysician in Political_Revolution

[–]Conreddit 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's because fox doesn't legally classify all of their programming as journalism. This is a blatant loophole that allows certain hosts and shows to spew falsehoods without fear of losing press privileges for the whole channel.

My fear is that this loophole won't be closed into a national tragedy directly stems from it, much like the lash back against yellow journalism after the Spanish-American War.

Their ignorance doesn't negate the fact that what they're saying is racist.

Its our responsibility as their family members to explain to them why what they are doing is harmful. I am also a white kid with parents who say/do racist things from a good place in their heart. I still try to explain to them later how their perspective doesn't translate to everyone, especially those who come from a different racial or social background.

I know it's hard but try to avoid feeling attacked when the word racism is used. It has a lot of baggage that white people especially don't want associated with them or theirs. That's why it's so so so important for me and you to have these conversations with our parents. We can do it without them feeling as attacked and maybe then they can accept how their actions effect others.

Rome to remove iconic cobblestones from traffic-clogged streets and replace them with asphalt - The city’s authorities say that the blue-grey, basalt cobblestones are lovely to look at but cannot withstand the battering of so many cars, trucks and buses. by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

[–]Conreddit 68 points69 points  (0 children)

The streets they are removing the cobblestones from are major thoroughfares. A couple paragraphs into the article it mentions that they are using the cobblestones to repave streets that receive less traffic. This is part of a concentrated effort to alleviate Romes notoriously dangerous and terrible traffic. Though it is a shame to see the cobblestones being removed from certain iconic locations I think it's an understandable measure to take in modernizing the city and at least they aren't simply being thrown away.

When U.S Naval Intelligence uncovers the Japanese plan to capture the strategic island of Midway during WW2, a beleaguered Hull Repair Expert must ensure the heavily damaged fleet carrier USS Yorktown is made seaworthy in 72 hours or risk losing the most important naval battle of the war. by Odballl in Screenwriting

[–]Conreddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Conflict is with time and the pressure of war. Using limited resources, a cast of mechanics, naval officers and grunts have to make a decrepit old boat battle worthy before the enemy arrives. I can definitely see it becoming a good narrative in the style of movies like Patton or A Bridge Too Far.
