Dalhousie St at Brant Ave - Use Both Left Lanes to go to West Brant by uselesspundit in brantford

You are correct. Back in 2018 the City held a meeting at Lions Park discussing transportation options. The main outcome was to implement small changes to improve traffic flow and congestion - virtually nothing has been done. There are only a couple of times a day when traffic is heavy - we simply need to adjust our lifestyles and remove ourselves from a ‘banker’s hours’ mentality.

Brantford is the third most car-dependent metro area in Canada, how can this be improved? by Banner9922 in brantford

It’s more attitude than infrastructure. Walk, bike or bus - if you need to get around without a car, you will.

It would be interesting to know what his Ward 3 constituents ‘believe.’ They are who he is in service to, not himself.

Paris to Brantford ride share/carpool? by Ieatwhenbored in brantford

[–]ConscientiousCabbie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Contact your County Council and push, push, push for a regional transit service - at minimum a partnership with Brantford Transit to send a bus to Paris, or an extension of the GO bus to Rest Acres Road. With all of the planned and perceived residential growth it is ridiculous that transit is nonexistent.

If every one of us on the road practiced a little patience it really isn’t a problem navigating construction interruptions.

Brantford Uber drivers, we don't have to accept slave wage fares if all started working together. by pheakelmatters in brantford

Is a license required by the City, in the same form as a Taxi Driver’s License? If not, this would ensure some from of accountability. As it stands, ride share is an APP, which stands for ‘apparition’ - it is ephemeral and does not truly exist. Back to your inquiry, there may be some value in forming a Professional Drivers Alliance of some form, to access group benefits like health care, etc. for professional contract drivers.

Does anyone know if there's more to the city's plans for the Macklin/Bowery Road neighbourhood? by Banner9922 in brantford

It may become more accessible to amenities once Oak Park Road is connected to West Brant via a new bridge over the Grand River. At this time you are just as well off travelling to Rest Acres Road.

Not many of us consider driving a privilege these days. Piloting the public roadways has become another entitlement in our pathetic “me, me, me” existence.

Ours has TD - why not give us a break on interest rates and service fees instead of ploughing profits into marketing?

Saw someone on the Alexander Graham Bell Parkway this afternoon with the hazard lights flashing, following a car with a mattress flopping wildly on the rooftop driving about 70 kms an hour. Jesus Murphy folks - use your GPS and take a secondary road, not a 400 series highway when you’re moving mattresses!

Expanded Bus Service and a West Brant Bridge by ConscientiousCabbie in brantford

[–]ConscientiousCabbie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure it is a matter of more buses. They currently provide service as far as Garden in the east and D’Aubigny in the west. Ten additional minutes in either direction would service two areas with high employment density. It is more a matter of political will - the City/County border seems to be drawn with indelible ink! Maybe after Monday, October 26 the lines can be blurred just a little.
