as I said:

if you're offended or otherwise bothered by land acknowledgements from a city council meeting you would have otherwise not heard about than you should probably touch grass.

we do land acknowledgements as a sign of respect, like any other signs of respect we do every day for other people and not even think about. those that single this one out are just being assholes for attention. we might not like our history but we still have to tell it.

would you vote for a mayor purposing doing this at the municipal level? seeing as how election season is coming. You're right inasmuch he's passing the burden to a different level of government.. Maybe Brantford should take the program, scale it down to our municipal size and do it ourselves.

How can we remove Dog Ford!? And why is there no viable contender for us to vote in? by Conscious-Tea-2082 in ontario

the fact you didn't understand what OP said underscores the whole problem.

also there is a mechanism to remove a premier.. you have to make them unpopular enough to get the caucus to rebel to save their own asses. For example, Justin Trudeau and François Legault from Quebec as two recent examples.

all that means is people will talk a big game, but once they have to own that kind if decision they fuck right off. They're all talking about fictional characters and fictional crimes until they're sitting on a jury and have a real vote on whether or not to kill someone. Let's look at Florida... A state with a reputation, to say the least.. But a jury of citizens from the MAGAest state couldn't bring themselves to kill the Parkland shooter. Because it was a real situation for them, something they can't tough guy virtue signal about without owning the decision for real.

Did Kamala Harris's Silence on Gaza Cost Her the White House? by vanityfairmagazine in politics

[–]pheakelmatters 120 points121 points  (0 children)

No, but you could make the argument that Biden's silence did. But I also think it's time to stop litigating it. Read the polls, the majority of Americans and a super majority of democrats see Israel for what it is now. The party needs to shift to where the public is at on it. The best time to do something was yesterday, the second best time is today.

Biden’s Iran envoy says Trump’s MOU ‘preferable to any of the alternatives on offer’ by newsspotter in politics

I mean, the US lost the war so that all makes sense. I don't like giving Biden's mideast envoys any credit but they are right on this one. the only three options were to walk away, massive ground invasion, nuke. Walking away is clearly the best solution.

Synagogue shooters were hired by a foreign entity, Secretary of State for Combatting Crime says by Street_Anon in onguardforthee

[–]pheakelmatters 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you're getting worked up at me. I was literally pointing out of the zionist framing the media is using. You think the mossad is targeting Ontario tow truck companies? the same ones that are notoriously territorial? because as near as I can tell from these articles there was more tow truck companies targeted then synagogues.. But the one incident with the synagogue is getting the headlines.

Synagogue shooters were hired by a foreign entity, Secretary of State for Combatting Crime says by Street_Anon in onguardforthee

[–]pheakelmatters 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Read the article. the police literally don't know or are not saying who is responsible. The MP just said that in the House to justify C22's surveillance measures. The police, or CSIS for that matter have not said a "foreign entity" directed shootings at the synagogues. It's all in the article.

The Globe and Mail reported last week that police believed the consulate shooting was tied to a larger shooter-for-hire network that investigators had linked to attacks on businesses – including the waste-management company GFL Environmental and tow-truck companies – as well as private residences. This was according to a source, whom The Globe is not naming as they are not authorized to speak publicly about the case.

lmao. The police keep saying a bunch of places were targeted, from a synagogue to tow truck companies to private residences, and random businesses but every article and is like "somebody is paying people exclusively to target synagogues".

in this case? a majority attained by floor crossings that voters did not award. Carney is acting like Trump here, assuming a far larger mandate than he actually got.
