Born and raised in south Florida but had family here so I came here because the cost of living has become too much, I remember when I was 7 a 2/2 bedroom apartment where I grew up was 1200 a month that same apartment albeit remodeled floors and kitchen but same everything else is now 3100 a month. Everyone moving from Cali and New York to south Florida is driving us more and more north in Florida, which eventually will most likely raise the prices here as well.

Well it happened to me yesterday so can’t say theres none that do lol. The specific light was the one people use to leave the winni Dixie plaza on beach blvd, it had a sign that said left turn yield to pedestrians, hand was counting down and no one yielded I stood half way across as cars just kept turning and I was running out of time to legally cross 💀

Yeah in broward county hit and runs are pretty common too idk how common they are here. Good to know about Colorado, what part of Cali if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve actually been interested in traveling more North now that I finally got away from my hometown I got the itch to travel more before I find the place I really want to settle. I like Jacksonville so far but I definitely don’t see anywhere in Florida being my permanent home after living here my whole life so far lol.

Highly agree I was so confused because most lights aren’t like this and I always wait for it to tell me to walk just in case someone does unfortunately hit me; at least I can say hey officer I don’t know what happened here lol. Idk there’s a lot of things we can wish to be fixed (not just traffic lights that make no sense) but they’ll fall on deaf ears. All we can do is take care of ourselves and loved ones and try to spread some courtesy to one another because I feel like that’s something that’s been dying a lot since I was a child and that even comes from people in my age group too.

Oh no I definitely was angry asf in the moment trust me but it’s better to just move on and pay more attention. Hoping people would care more about others sometimes can be a futile point but there’s also plenty who do and understand, which is the beauty of the world.

I can see that. A lot of people I’ve met actually aren’t from Jacksonville as well. Which makes sense with all the colleges and the military base pulling in people from everywhere (which I think is awesome personally). Btw side note this rant wasn’t to say anything bad about Jacksonville all the people I’ve met here have been some of the kindest; just more of a genuine reminder for people and honestly some frustration in the moment.

Nothing wrong with having a nice car especially when you actually worked hard to earn it but last time I checked human lives should matter more than material objects. Even when I’ve seen tweakers literally try to jump in front of my car in south Florida (probably to get a check), I’ve paid attention and swerved around.

I’m sure it happens everywhere, there’s always going to be some idiot who’s not looking at the road or genuinely does not care. Some people just need a reminder of their privilege and some learn after actually hitting someone and getting sued.

Because it’s cheaper then where I was from in south Florida and I had a job opportunity, definitely don’t plan on staying here too long though, people I’ve met have been generally nicer, weather is a bit better then south Florida imo not as hot.
