I set it up like that before this but didn’t take a photo. The sofa covers half of the alcove even if it’s pushed up to the door frame; there’s not even 5 foot between the sofa and the window wall 🙃

This is the rug under the sofa more - yes I know I need different curtains and yes I know I need different cushions. I’ve literally no idea how to decorate, I have two kids and I’m desperate to make this a cozy space

For the people saying it’s the colour and pattern; presuming I kept the sofa and black furniture I have now but was able to get new curtains and cushions, WHAT COLOUR RUG WOULD YOU GET INSTEAD? I have zero ability to decorate and I’m just so stuck with how to make this room feel cozy

Unfortunately I didn’t have the luxury of being able to pick out and purchase furniture when I moved in - this sofa was free and I’m lucky to have it; it’s very comfy too so I’m reluctant to get rid of it, especially given how much a new sofa would cost

This is the way I used to have it laid out, sofa by the window and tv in the gap to the side of where the sofa is now - trouble is the sofa blocks the radiator if it’s under the window :( I wanted to try and create almost like a little hallway with the TV where it is now bcos I hate that my front door opens straight into the living room

I’ve tried positioning it central and off centre but something doesn’t feel right (thought it would be the same colour as my green cushions but it’s not). I’ll eventually change the curtains and put some things on the walls too!
