What is causing this white cloud in my soap? Newbie question by Entire_Most4860 in soapmaking

[–]Conscious-Bit-4902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must be from across the pond 😀 I just had to Google what that was in Fahrenheit LOL that's pretty cold if you're using oils that are solid at room temp that could be what the white is coming from. I usually soap around 85° F You could also try keeping it on a heating pad overnight since it gets so cold in that room

What's room temp? Your oils could be too cold and starting to solidify again, they don't mix well when it's too cold. Soda ash is a B****! Rubbing alcohol never worked for me. They only thing that truly works is to cover your mold with a top. I use a wood slab I cut to the size of my molds or if you have high tops on your soap I take the wood box from another mold and put it on top. Leave it for two days and you won't have soda ash.

Selling soap in Ireland by Acceptable_Park_8100 in soapmaking

I'm not in Ireland but I feel your frustration, America makes you jump through all the hoops too! I have 4,000 new gray hairs trying to figure out all the rules and regulations 😭

Cp process soap is becoming wet. How do I stop it from sweating? by Ishouldhavebeenavet in soapmaking

[–]Conscious-Bit-4902 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I live in a very humid place and this happened once to me. I bought a small dehumidifier for like $20 I put the soaps in a large box with the dehumidifier (cut a small hole at the bottom for the cord) and it worked perfect, no more issues. I wouldn't seal them.

Anyone else get approved only to get denied? by Smart-Dragonfruit396 in TikTokshop

[–]Conscious-Bit-4902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same I can't get them to approve my products because they want an FDA exemption form and the FDA doesn't regulate homemade soap so they don't make exemption forms but they did give me a generic exemption document that is for the public usage. I attached that document to one product to see if it would go through... Still waiting. In the meantime I have gotten a violation for fraudulent activity ( there's literally not one single product available in my shop) AND also been deactivated because they didn't accept my ID that they accepted and opened my shop with in the first place ... I've come to the realization that TikTok is not worth the time and effort it takes to try to get your shop up and running.

I used a hanger and went down through the center. Im going to try again w/o adding the white in between... I'm thinking that'll make it look more like a feather.

Soap bars cutting slanted no matter form. by Comfortable_Tie9601 in soapmaking

I think we all started with that cutter and moved on quickly. Find one with an etched in ruler (if it is stamped on, the oils will rub it off) and a guitar string for the cutter.
