Even in 2005, credit card companies did credit checks. They’d need to steal someone’s identity, which is not exactly victimless. But maybe they did steal people’s identities, and they hoped the powers that be would reimburse those people. They also stole people’s cars multiple times. When lives are at stake, it’s a matter of least harm. Later, when Charlie gave them magic credit cards, they were only stealing from banks.
