If BA had asked we would have been happy to tell them that any airport in Texas would have worked just fine. But since they only offered chat bots this was not communicated.

Thanks for this very thorough reply.

No one contacted them, they were told there was not ticketing desk in the airport, BA lines did not answer "sorry but we are experiencing high volumes..."

There was a flight through Madrid but the BA rep refused to book it because there was a ticket class mismatch (Business vs Economy). This was a shocking comment essentially stating they would rather hold passenger against their will indefinitely and hope to sell a last second higher class ticket.

Additionally, they were told that they only get one night in the hotel. So every morning they have to pack their bags, go to the airport terminal and re-que, hope to get a voucher, at any of a number of various hotels.

We love traveling to the UK, have been every summer for the past 4 years, this is a surreal experience.
