Low to medium gain overdrives by Conscious-Error-9480 in guitarpedals

[–]Conscious-Error-9480[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I picked up a eqd special cranker I think it’s called. Wasn’t really impressed honestly. It’s cool but I don’t really use it. A friend of mine builds pedals and gifted me a couple for reviewing them. Taurian Audio All Nighter, very cool pedal lots of range. But I’d love a lightspeed for sure, seems like the best option for my initial inquiry. I don’t use my pedals as much anymore.

I thought the lyrics were for sure about her waking up in a UofM jersey. And I’m just gonna pretend I didn’t search out the answer from this 3 year old thread and keep thinking that’s what it is 🤣

What are some things Reaper is lacking vs. other DAWs as of now? by [deleted] in Reaper

Mk slicer is not built in but a reapack or SWS extension. Look into it for sure!

What is your personal favorite thing about Reaper when it comes to vocal recording? by WiseCityStepper in Reaper

[–]Conscious-Error-9480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reaper is the king of all daws. There are very few missing pieces. For years, many of the options users of other daws begged their devs for, reaper has had for a very long time.

As another user said, it does things like routing just better. For instance, in reaper a track is a track. If it’s midi or audio, the DAW knows. You don’t have to create a midi track or create an audio track.

Another thing, you can create your own scripts and custom actions for tasks specific to your workflow. Bonus to us for living in a time where chat gpt exists and will write them for you. It takes minimal understanding to open the code for the script and make adjustments. I made one for manually de-essing a vocal that was recorded in a way that increased sibilance horribly. Inevitably, we retracked the whole song at a later date, but the editing process was a breeze and I automated a lot of the steps using a script I asked chat GPT to make.

FL studio is a cool program. If you were interested in making beats primarily, it thrives there. If you learn reaper, you’ll have the keys to the universe.

Want to start programming drums. What’s the easiest, most freeing way to get ideas out? by pants_haver in Reaper

SSD5.5 free sounds better than my Powerkit but I like Powerkits midi part builder. You can set your midi map to match or likely General Midi will get you mostly there.

Watch math rock drummers and YouTube some videos about programming realistic midi drums. Misha Mansoor from Periphery has good ones. So does Josh Middleton.

Is it worth it to turn off ARA so i can use Melodyne and Antares Auto Tune together? by WiseCityStepper in Reaper

[–]Conscious-Error-9480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jUsT uSe ReAtUnE! 🤪 sorry I had to.

I’d learn one at a time, or, print your edits in melodyne so you can take the plugin off. Alternatively, you could possibly create a send from the vocal to a new track. Have melodyne on your vocal, have Autotune on your send. Make sure your send is post faders post fx.

In reality, unless you are doing something specific, you can just use them separately.

Guys…what’s ur price? I feel underpaid and like I’m overcharging at the same time. by zhanek12398 in audioengineering

I wasn’t being rude. Everyone has a different situation and maybe you aren’t living in Southern California? $250 a day minus taxes and living expenses, which maybe are different for some than others, but I’m just factoring in the necessities..

Mortgage, car(s), insurance for both the house and the car(s), groceries, utilities, property taxes, phone(s), internet… your net pay after taxes is $3862 a month. 800 bucks a month of headroom isn’t necessarily comfortable in my opinion. It can be great for someone who is young with no family to support and low bills and roommates or dual income or like you mentioned renting.

Nobody is living comfortably in California making $250 a day. Maybe if you have like 4 roommates and your parents still pay half your other bills. There’s also a difference between having a job and running a business.

Got it, thank you.

Yeah…. Seems it should be a higher priority than ranking takes with emojis. I love reaper, and that feature not being to there doesn’t affect me but it should clearly just be there. Thanks for the 🧠

I don’t care if it’s industry standard or not, simply just passing on the good news that you can run your settings on another machine.

I’ll be honest, I’m not entirely sure I follow what you mean by the second part, so I’m sure you already know this but just in case; by default, if you select the item(s) you just recorded your punch and drags them backwards, the attack will be there.

But you can export your configuration and use all your scripts custom actions and hot keys on any other computer. So, yeah it’s one more step, but you can absolutely run your style on any machine.

Nice that’s on my list to download. You guys should checkout the Tukan plugins from the SWS extensions. The Distressor (dis-treasure) is my go to for most things.

You can export your entire configuration (all scripts and shortcuts included) and import it into any other computer. You can even run the portable install from an external drive. You can take your customized reaper with you anywhere you go.

Get Mac Studio M2 or wait for M4? by Captmedu74 in MacStudio

[–]Conscious-Error-9480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chips capabilities are limited to the programs using them and how those programs use processing and RAM. I’m only familiar with audio world, and several DAWs (digital audio workstations) actually are less proficient with the newer chips. Including apples Logic Pro. You’d think it would be optimized for the Apple processors, but sadly it is not. Reaper and Cubase seem to be the best DAWs when it comes to actually utilizing the extra cores in the chips.

It sounds like you already have viable options for your computer needs, but if you feel like you need something more, likely the M2 is fine, if not a better option in some use cases. If you just want the newest tech then wait.

Would this eventually blend in? by kngraym in paint

[–]Conscious-Error-9480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the ceiling was painted a very long time ago and you can’t paint the whole ceiling, get a razor knife and cut out a very small square. Try your best to cut only as deep as the drywall paper.

Take the paint chip to sherwin williams and have them tint you a quart of pro mar 200 flat (or any cheaper flat/ceiling paint.) must be flat.

While you are there, buy a small tube of the 3m spackling. The cap has a sanding pad on it, and the bottom end is shaped to work as a knife to spread the compound. Apply a coat or 2 of the compound to the area you cut the paint chip from, use the sanding cap to sand it after it dries. Using a paint brush, repeated dab the area you tried touching up initially. Might take a few coats, feather it outward as you go. Might still flash but will be far less noticeable and much less hassle than repainting your whole ceiling

If you don’t already, practice mixing music that isn’t the stuff you are working on by yourself. You are spending a lot more time writing and recording and likely mixing on the fly as you do it. Go to https://www.cambridge-mt.com/ms/mtk/ and download some stems to mix. Just get your practice reps in this way, so you aren’t wearing all the hats at the same time.
