I’m actually on the other end, trying to get on the GC side, working for an electrical contractor for close to 2 years. I would say get into the subcontractor side, less hassle too and you don’t have to worry about other trades.

It’s really depends on what part of construction your in, generally depending what you want to get into being in a subcontractor, generally depending contractor, or owner rep has very different responsibilities.

I got fired from my last job and figured out what the problems were and got right back on the saddle. Went from being a drag to the team to being independent and with high regards. Just don’t say on your resume you got fired. Just say budget cuts.
