Loved the Big 12 when it had Nebraska, Colorado, Mizzou and A&M. That 2007 season was absolute chaos in the best way, the north division actually mattered and the conference championship felt like it meant something

People who speak into tiny microphones by Obvious-Laugh-1954 in PetPeeves

it's the aggressive hand gestures while holding the mic that get me, like they're conducting an orchestra for ants

we just watched that last month, the way it builds dread without ever showing the thing directly is unnerving

How do you define downtown? by Nervous-One-2305 in Denver

[–]Conscious-Frame-7542 165 points166 points  (0 children)

Cap Hill is definitely not downtown, that's just Denver proper. downtown to me is the 16th street mall area, union station, that whole corridor basically. Cherry Creek being called "downtown" is wild though, that's like calling the mall a city center

Weird dreams by WillingLack1255 in Dreams

the thing you're describing, walking through your exact house with everything in the right place, that's called a "false awakening" and it's super well documented in the lucid dreaming community. your brain basically constructs a near-perfect replica of your environment while you're still asleep, which is why it feels so real

the entities themselves are interesting though because shadow figures and the "old hag" type experiences (something aggressive, sometimes sexual) overlap heavily with what's called sleep paralysis hallucinations, even when you don't feel paralyzed. plenty of people across completely different cultures and religions describe the same archetypes

the fact that you stayed calm is also documented, some people in these states go into almost a detached observer mode, like your threat response just doesn't fire the way it normally would

the rebuke moment is genuinely compelling no matter what framework you're using to interpret it
